One of the things gardening has taught me is to slow down and look closer.

A ladybug isn’t always a ladybug. Some are native and beneficial. Some are invasive Asian lady beetles.

A caterpillar isn’t always a pest. Monarchs and Black Swallowtails depend on specific host plants to complete their life cycle.

The more time I spend in the garden, the more I realize how much there is to learn. Every season teaches something new. Every plant attracts a different visitor. Every insect has a role to play.

What once looked like “just a bug” becomes a pollinator, a predator, a butterfly, or part of a much larger story.

Gardening has made me more observant, more patient, and more appreciative of the beauty that exists all around us when we take the time to notice it.

The garden is always teaching. 🌿🦋🐞

🦋 Remember that Black Swallowtail butterfly that keeps visiting our garden?

Well… she must have decided Pinehurst was the perfect place to raise a family because she laid eggs on our dill! 🌿

Now we have a whole group of Black Swallowtail caterpillars happily munching away.

Of course, we couldn’t just leave them to fend for themselves. We planted a dill buffet, added a few other host plants, and carefully moved them into a screened enclosure where they’ll be protected from hungry birds and other predators.

Inside you’ll find plenty of food and sticks for them to climb when they’re ready to form their chrysalis and begin their incredible transformation into butterflies. 🐛➡️🦋

We’ll be checking on them daily and sharing updates as they grow.

If you stop by our self-serve farmstand, you’ll find their enclosure on display along with a sign explaining their life cycle. It’s a great opportunity for kids (and adults!) to observe nature up close.

👀 Please enjoy with your eyes only and help us keep our future butterflies safe by not touching the enclosure.

Have you ever raised caterpillars before?

We spent the day working outside in the heat, watering, planting, and giving our self-serve farmstand a refresh.

As we’ve been planting our raised beds with cut flowers for the season, we decided to share some of our extras with you. We now have cut flower starts available, including beautiful varieties of zinnias, celosia, baby’s breath, and amaranth.

All of these plants were started right here from seed back in March. Watching them grow from tiny seedlings into healthy plants ready for new gardens is one of the most rewarding parts of what we do.

We also put together a Cut Flower Garden Variety Pack that includes a plant of baby’s breath, celosia, zinnia, and amaranth—an easy way to start your own cutting garden and enjoy fresh bouquets all summer long.

And if you’ve been meaning to add a few more vegetables to your garden, now is the time! Our vegetable starts are now marked down to $5 each or 3 for $12, including select tomatoes, cucumbers, squash, zucchini, and peppers.

We’ll continue adding more cut flower varieties to the farmstand as they become ready and we habe time to split them up . If you’re looking for something specific, send us a message—we may already have it growing.

This Saturday we’ll be joining Landmark Community Theatre for their Suessical Pancake Breakfast!

The cast did a fantastic job this past weekend bringing the colorful world of Seussical to life, and we’re excited to continue the fun.

When your daughter is dressed as the Lorax, naturally you create a Lorax-inspired raffle basket! 🌱💛😅

Our basket includes a herb planter with thyme, rosemary, oregano, and gardening goodies, along with a reminder inspired by one of my favorite Lorax quotes:

“Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. It’s not.”

There will be plenty of fun raffle items, a delicious pancake breakfast, and some of the cast members will even be back in costume. Gianna will be sporting her Lorax attire once again, so be sure to say hello if you see her!

We hope to see you there and help support the wonderful programs at Landmark Community Theatre.

We were invited by Child Health and Development Institute - CHDI to host a team building workshop. This afternoon we brought in beautiful herbs for a planter workshop. So many choices and the room smelled amazing. We hope you learned a little something and got to take home something special that you put together.

Thank you for having us!!! ♥️🌿🥰🌱

I’m not in competition with anyone but myself.

I’m a different person than I was a year ago. I’ve learned, grown, stumbled, adjusted, and kept moving forward.

Just a reminder that growth doesn’t always happen overnight. Sometimes it looks a lot like this lavender bed.

Earlier this spring, we completely redid this raised bed. The lavender was overcrowded, so we spaced the plants out, gave them room to breathe, cut them back, and trusted the process.

Today, they’re thriving.

Maybe that’s the reminder someone needs today: growth often requires making space, letting go of what isn’t serving you, and having patience while things take root.

Thank you for following along on this journey with us. Whether you’re growing a garden, a business, a dream, or simply yourself—we’re all growing together.

🌱✨ I was watering in our home garden this morning and noticed something exciting… our first baby squash of the season is starting to grow!

Of course, that sent me on a mission. 😄

When I got to the farmstand, I checked the squash and zucchini plants there too—and many of them are already setting baby fruit as well.

There is something so rewarding about growing your own food and watching those first tiny vegetables appear. Before you know it, you’ll be harvesting fresh produce right from your own backyard.

We still have a beautiful selection of organic vegetable starts, herbs, flowers, and unique garden plants available in our self-serve farmstand, including:

🍅 Heirloom Tomatoes
🍅 Patio Tomatoes
🍅 Ground Cherry Tomatoes
🥒 Diva Cucumbers
🥒 Bush Cucumbers
🎃 Squash & Zucchini

🌿 Basil, Rosemary, Thyme, Oregano, Dill, Cilantro, Eucalyptus, Parsley, Lemon Verbena, Lemongrass, Mint, Lemon Balm, Southernwood, Pineapple Sage (a favorite for tea and hummingbirds!), and beautiful culinary sage.

🌸 Citronella and Rose-Scented Geraniums
🌸 Baby’s Breath Plants
💐 Grow-Your-Own Cut Flower Garden Packs featuring Baby’s Breath, Celosia, Amaranth, and Zinnias

🍓 Strawberry Plants
🌳 Bay Leaf Trees
🐱 Cat Grass
🧡 Marigolds
🧡Poppies
🤍 Fragrant Jasmine
🌿 Sun-Loving Ferns

…and lots of other fun plants to discover!

🫑 Peppers have officially SOLD OUT! Thank you for supporting our little farmstand. ❤️

🌱 We will be restocking this little stand throughout the summer as new plants, flowers, herbs, and seasonal favorites become available.

If you’ve been thinking about starting a garden, there’s still plenty of time. Many of these plants are already flowering and beginning to produce.

Sometimes the most productive thing you can do is stop and pay attention.

Today it was ladybugs on the lovage, a monarch caterpillar making its way through the garden, a mourning dove, and an oriole singing from my favorite tree.

The emails, calls, and messages will still be there later. These moments won’t.
