There’s something special about stepping into an old home and discovering the details that have quietly lasted generations—hand-carved woodwork, stained glass, plaster details, pocket doors… pieces made with care, craftsmanship, and the intention to last.

Restoring homes like these reminds us that good design isn’t always about starting over. Sometimes it’s about slowing down enough to appreciate what’s already there.

Lately we’ve been revisiting our project and falling back in love with all the unexpected color moments layered throughout this home.

When designing this project, we intentionally kept the foundation neutral and timeless, then looked for opportunities to introduce color in ways that felt surprising but still lived comfortably within the architecture of the home.

A painted doorway, an unexpected pairing, a moment that catches your eye as you move from room to room… those details are often the ones that make a home feel personal.

It’s a reminder that adding color doesn’t always mean going bold everywhere — sometimes a small unexpected combination can have the biggest impact.

This stained glass had years of wear, layers of history, and so much hidden beauty waiting underneath. Restoration always asks for patience, but moments like this remind us why we do it.

We lead every project with restoration but when we found out this home was built by the first female developer in Brooklyn, we made sure to preserve every bit of history in this home, from the fretwork to the tiled fireplaces. 🤎

We took an 1890 cabinet and converted it into a kitchen cabinet - perfect for displaying dishware & other utensils. Still a but we just added the House of Hackney wallpaper and are suddenly very very excited.
