Garden Update! 🌿

🌸 Flowers are coming along beautifully. Dahlias, snapdragons, and peonies are all starting to bloom so we will hopefully have some mini bouquets for farmer's market kick-off.
🌱 Plants have popped up in all the garden beds and I love this stage when they grow and change so quickly. The first peppers and tomatoes are also growing!
🧄 The garlic scapes are coming in! I'm excited to see the garlic growing so strong this year.
🐛 A caterpillar found a cozy little pepper plant to make a cocoon in the greenhouse and I'm looking forward to seeing what emerges.

A little update on the nests and babies that grow alongside the garden. 🪹

🐇The bunnies are all grown up and left the nest. They are the second nest we've had in this raised bed and both times we had no plant damage. Mama simply found a safe place to let her babies grow.

🐦We have a beautiful bird nest in our garden shed and I finally snuck in to get a picture while mama was gone. Still haven't had a good enough look at mama to fully confirm the species though.

🦊 Further away from the garden, we also have a fox den on our property with two very playful kits that are fun to watch.

We're adding something new this year and it's something I'm personally very excited about!

🐾 Four Paws Dog Treats! 🐾

We're the stereotypical millennial dog parents who do any and everything for our pups happiness. Because of that, I wanted to learn how to make a dog treat with simple, wholesome ingredients that will be shelf-stable and most importantly, that dogs will love. So I experimented this winter and found one that is "Jack-Approved." Two size options for big and little pups!

Four ingredients. That's it.
~ Whole rolled oats that I turn into oat flour
~ Puréed Pumpkin
~ Organic Natural Peanut Butter (one ingredient, peanuts)
~ Local farm fresh eggs

These will make their product debut at Garden Fest next week, and then be with us at the Thief River Falls Farmers Market this summer! And of course, we would love to see your dogs and will always have samples for them! 🐾

Garden Update! 🌿 First of 2026!

I usually wait until June 1st, but with the weather this week I thought I'd get an early start!

🌱 Greenhouse is FULLY planted. This was overdue, but life gets in the way sometimes. No more taking care of plants in little pots (yay!), they are all planted in the raised beds inside and out.
🌸 I'm easily doubling the amount of flowers growing this year as they've become a favorite of mine. I planted lots of Dahlia tubers that are starting to pop up, but I also grabbed a few from our local garden centers to get a head start with flowers (and because I just couldn't walk away from them).
🐇 Baby bunnies are growing strong in the garden. I saw mama out there tonight and she is taking great care of them. I'm guessing soon we might see them leave the nest.
🐝 I had a lot of plans to get the garden fully seeded today, but again, life gets in the way sometimes. A mystery bug (likely a wasp) stung the inside of my hand last night while watering so it's been rough to do as much as I planned today, but it will all get done soon so no worries.
