The Box: "How the Shipping Container Made the World Smaller and the World Economy Bigger" is a book by Marc Levinson charting the historic rise of the intermodal container (shipping container) and how it changed the economic landscape on a major scale. The New York Times called it "a smart, engaging book".

The book inspired the name for the "The Box" project run by BBC News, in which the BBC was tracking a container for a period of one year.

It’s likely that prospective clients have never seen anyone’s Sales Process. It’s doubtful that anyone has taken the time to explain all of the outcomes that are necessary to really understand their needs, develop a solution, build consensus and execute after it’s all said and done. Because they've never seen the process laid out before, they've never thought about all of the steps that are necessary to getting the proper outcome they need.

My activities and experience in the International Household Goods industry started at Unigroup (parent company of United and Mayflower Van Lines) where I was given tools and the skill set needed to thrive in logistics. After United, working with Allied, Graebel, Atlas warehouses nationwide (and partners worldwide) has become second nature. Most of the van lines operate the same but the industry has changed constantly. Keeping ahead of these trends and forecasts has proven to be invaluable. Everything from Market Research to Visual Surveys has been impacted by technology. Most else stems from building that oh-so-famous rapport with the potential customer to create value. Only once value is established or recognized is conversion possible... Educating the customer to a level of confident decision-making must also be a priority, otherwise the lowest-cost wins vs. value and/or relationship based sales.

Today we facilitated a heavy lift. We took 1x20' Ocean Container from the customer's driveway (via 60 ton crane) onto an Intermodal chassis. From the time the driver arrived to the time he departed for the port it only took us 75 minutes including the crane setup and everything else...
