Our habanero-cherry bomb mash tasted πŸ‘ŒπŸΌ after nearly two weeks of fermentation, so we turned it into hot sauce. Blended 8oz of mash with 4oz of raw apple cider vinegar and ended up with this tasty treat. Saucy Saturday, indeed. @ Buda, Texas

Bought a bunch of cayenne peppers at the farmers market this morning and whipped up a batch of mash. It’s one of our favorite things to do in the kitchen and something we look forward to each summer. Love using this fiery stuff in hot sauces, marinades, and any recipe that needs a little heat. πŸ”₯πŸ”₯πŸ”₯
It’s time consuming with small peppers like cayenne, but super easy. Just remove the stems and seeds from a pound of peppers, add one teaspoon of natural salt, blend until desired consistency, then pack in a jar with an airlock. Test after one week for progress. We usually let ours ferment for 10-14 days. Other varieties of peppers also work, but we’ve had the best luck with cayenne, cherry bomb, and habanero. Trust us, attempting this recipe without gloves will cause you unbelievable pain. Don’t do it.πŸ”₯πŸ”₯πŸ”₯
