Halloween treats are even better when they’re shared! 🎃 Azar teamed up with Prentice Office Environments and other area firms to support the Pediatric Pantry at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center. This year’s donations included healthy snacks and drinks, along with gift cards to help make visits a little brighter for kids and families. 👻

Jerry, Wayne, and Harrison attended the 32nd Statewide Conference on Local Bridges in Saratoga Springs, connecting with industry professionals and taking part in conversations focused on local bridge infrastructure across New York State.

Jerry also shared his expertise as a conference speaker. We look forward to bringing these insights back to our work supporting communities and their infrastructure!

Last week Azar's architecture team joined HOK, Gilbane, and Turner Construction Company along with local tradespeople, project partners and local and state leadership teams to celebrate the topping out of the new $1.7B Wadsworth Center Laboratory in Albany, NY. The final piece of steel landed effortlessly to complete the 663,000 sf structure.

A critical public health investment and landmark, state-of-the-art facility, the laboratory consolidates public health testing and research previously spread across multiple aging sites, bringing together nearly 800 public health professionals to advance scientific research and improve New York's ability to respond to emerging public health threats.

As Associate Architect, Azar is proud to continue our partnership with HOK, and collaborate with the New York State Department of Health, DASNY, and the Gilbane-Turner Joint Venture on this critical public health investment.

Special shout-out to Azar's Kendall Ransom, who relocated to Albany to provide full-time, onsite Construction Administration services for the duration of project construction!

A little QAQC, a little problem solving and a little friendly competition!

Earlier this summer, Director of Architectural QAQC Bryce Bixby led a hands on QAQC challenge for the architecture team. Teams of three worked together to identify complex findings on an example project, bringing together colleagues from Buffalo, Manhattan, Philadelphia and remote locations.

A great way to sharpen our QAQC skills while working together and having some fun along the way.

We invite you to join Declan Keane, Sr. Project Manager with Azar's Landscape Architecture team at the 2026 APA NY Upstate Conference next week! Declan will be leading the mobile workshop "Swings, Slides, & Stakeholders" at Albany's Washington Park, alongside Michaela Roberts, AICP and Sarah Read of the Washington Park Conservancy, where they'll discuss the planning, community engagement, and design process that resulted in the creation of the new Washington Park Playground.

The workshop will offer 2 CM credits for APA certification, and is among two and a half engaging days of workshops and panel discussions with themes around developing long-term resilience and sustainability, transformative redevelopment opportunities, and applying equity-centered planning approaches that allow communities to flourish.

Earlier this year, LaLuce Mitchell, RA, LEED AP attended the New York State Preservation Conference in Cooperstown, connecting with preservation professionals from across New York.

As part of the conference, LaLuce joined a field session exploring historic timber framing and got an up close look at some of the region’s historic barns.

Azar supported the conference as a Copper Sponsor.

Today is World Architecture Day, and this year’s theme chosen by UIA - International Union of Architects, 𝐻𝑜𝑢𝑠𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝑖𝑠 𝑎 𝐻𝑢𝑚𝑎𝑛 𝑅𝑖𝑔ℎ𝑡. 𝐵𝑢𝑖𝑙𝑑 𝐼𝑡., is a reminder that smart design can impact access to the places people want to call home.

Our architecture and engineering teams have worked to rehabilitate public housing in communities throughout Western NY and New York City, improving building amenities, site conditions, code compliance, and interiors across hundreds of units.

We’re also proud to support organizations like Habitat for Humanity and PUSH Buffalo, which works to expand affordable housing and strengthen our neighborhoods.

Bringing impact to housing isn’t always about building new. Sometimes, it’s about making improvements that bring efficiency, sustainability, and accessibility to the places people already call home.
