You probably consider yourself a tidy person. Your clean game is super strong. You scrub the tub and toilet, and wash those dirty dishes like a boss. But little did you know, your toilet isn't the grossest thing in your house. The real dirty items in your home are things you would have never guessed.

With an epic flu season and the recent global outbreak that is taking a toll in countries across the globe, making sure things are clean is more important than ever for preventing the spread of germs. Some of the things in your house that you're likely forgetting to clean on a regular basis can spread the flu and other viruses and harmful bacteria putting your family at risk.

We have put together a list of the 10 really dirty items in your home that you would have never guessed. You would most likely be shocked to know that your phone is a filth farm and it is considered # 1 on our top ten really dirty items in your home.

While the thought of using an ancient payphone, which you already know is covered with bacteria, likely makes you nauseous, your own phone is the dirtiest item you own. Studies show that 92 percent phones have bacteria on them with 16 percent containing E. coli, bacteria found in f***s. The fact that the screen is usually warm, bacteria thrives and transfers not just to our fingers, but also our face including eyes, nose, ears and lips. Before you toss your phone in the trash, you can clean it up by running an alcohol wipe over it daily. And for the love of God, stop taking your phone to the bathroom - especially the public bathroom.

Do you wear your shoes in the house or leave them at the door? It's an especially important choice for people with small children who play on the floor.

In some countries and cultures, it's scandalous to walk into a home with shoes on. But in the U.S., most people do.

Most people don't even take the time to think about the level of contamination that they are tracking into their home every single day. In a recent study, researchers at the University of Arizona found nine different species of bacteria on people's shoes. These types of bacteria can cause infections in our stomachs, eyes and lungs.

The study also found bacteria live longer on our shoes than in other places. As we walk, we constantly pick up new debris that feeds the growth of more bacteria.

The researchers tested to see if bacteria on shoes would transfer to the tile floors in a house. More than 90 percent of the time it did. Carpeting harbors bacteria even more.

While it's not really proper to ask a guest to remove their shoes. When you're in Rome, do as the Romans -- so if you see that other people have removed their shoes, then you should remove yours as well!

Your family computer’s keyboard is used by many different people. Sticky fingers, spilled drinks… It´s not hard to see the need to keep keyboards clean.

Keyboards also act as safe havens for all sorts of household germs. Even if you avoid the dirt you can see, there’ll still be the issue of the bacteria you can’t. In fact, one study revealed “out of 33 keyboards swabbed, four were regarded as a potential health hazard and one harboured five times more germs than one of the office’s toilet seats. Here are 8 simple steps
-Power: Turn your computer off.
-Connection: If possible, disconnect the keyboard from your device.
-Shake: Turn your keyboard upside-down and give it a gentle shake.
-Air: Blow dirt and dust from between the keys using compressed air. Shake again.
-Wet: Apply a small amount of cleaner to a damp cloth. Make sure the cloth is only slightly damp, though!
-Clean: Clean the keys very gently with the cloth, taking care not to remove their labels.
--Wipe: Use disinfectant wipes to kill any remaining bacteria on your keyboard.
-Dry: Make sure your keyboard is completely dry before using it again
