Finished product in Kerrville. ✅

The goal here wasn’t just a better-looking driveway. It was fixing the drainage problem that had water running toward the garage. We cut the high edges down, built the low areas up, cleaned the drainage path, added a berm, and redirected the water back to the culvert.

Then we topped it off with a double layer chip seal!

Killing two birds one stone on this driveway in Kerrville.

Water’s been coming down the hill and running into the garage, so we’re building a berm to turn it and send it where it needs to go. We’re also cutting down the edges, cleaning out the built-up areas, and rebasing the road so the water will flow off like it should.

Taking care of the drainage issue & giving them a good clean double layer chip seal all in one shot!

We finished this driveway with two layers of chip seal after grading, shaping, watering, and compacting the base.
This hill had been washing out, and now it’s smooth, clean, and built to hold up for years.

We used a light tan pea gravel finish that looks good and stays cooler in the summer.

Laying down hot CS-2 on this ranch road.

This is the first layer of a double chip seal. We spray the oil, spread the rock, roll it tight, then repeat the process to seal it in!

We’ve got the rock going down in the next clip.

LaGrange driveway recap. We dug out the bad areas so we could build it back right, then overlaid it with about 2.5” of new hot mix asphalt with a leveling course underneath. Finished up flush to the concrete so there’s a smooth transition and a clean look all the way out to the road.

Just wrapped up this clean chip seal driveway out in Hondo, Texas.

Two layers of half-inch base stone locked in tight with a ⅜” brown gravel cap. Think jigsaw puzzle, but built to last.

💧 Drains in place.
📏 Slopes graded 3-to-1.
🧱 Concrete ribbon curb finishes the edges clean.

Before we chip sealed, we doubled up on road base. Why? Because the strength of a road starts from the bottom.

Laying two full lifts of base material builds a stronger foundation that lasts, especially on rural ranch roads where drainage, traffic, and time really take a toll. It compacts tighter, holds grade longer, and sets the stage for a higher quality, stronger finish.

We could have laid one layer of road base and called it a day. Saved some time. Saved some money. But we don’t base our decisions on what’s cheapest, we base them on what takes care of our customer!
