Carpet Rating System (P.A.R.):

For the longest time carpet was mostly rated by its Weight, which the carpet Weight is the amount of fiber in one square yard of carpet, typically measured in ounces. While it is important to have a method to rate carpet is important, in some aspects using solely the carpet Weight was over simplifying it since there can be many factors into determining which carpet is better than another.

So the industry recently started adopting the P.A.R. method. A PAR (Performance, Appearance, and Retention) rating measures a carpet's durability on a 1-to-5 scale. It evaluates how well a carpet withstands foot traffic and maintains its original look. Higher ratings mean greater longevity.

A breakdown of what the scores typically mean for your home includes:4.0 to 5.0 (Outstanding): Ideal for heavy traffic areas like family rooms, hallways, and stairs.
