October Irises! We always consider multi-season interest in plantings. When we designed this on-structure concrete planter for ‘s One25 Cambrian Way building in the development, we made sure to plan for blooms and textures all year long. We love how the elegant ruffles of Iris germanica “Immortality,” a reliable rebloomer, contrast with the spiky seedheads of Allium cernuum and hard edges of the board-formed concrete in the last breath of fall.

T.J. Boyle Associates is excited to have collaborated with Summit Properties in envisioning and designing the Stonecrop Meadows neighborhood in Middlebury, VT. Stonecrop Meadows is set to become a vibrant community featuring affordable housing for families and individuals of all income levels. This development includes over 250 apartments, townhomes, and duplexes, all conveniently located within a half mile of downtown. The project is a joint effort with Summit Properties, Krebs & Lansing Engineers, G4 Design Studios, and Huntington Homes, aimed at creating quality housing complemented by community amenities such as playgrounds, community gardens, open green spaces, and access to recreational trails to foster community engagement. Construction for the first phase of the Core Village commenced in December 2024, which will include 45 townhomes and duplexes, along with a 35-unit apartment building offering studio, 1-, 2-, and 3-bedroom units.

Art, nature, and play align at The Annex, a newly opened housing community in Williston. When TJ Boyle Associates was approached in 2022 to design a public space that would open alongside the proposed housing, the goal was to provide the existing and future community a place to connect and engage with the landscape through recreation and play while providing an opportunity to uplift the region’s valuable artistic and cultural resources. Creators Clay Mohrman of and Mike Scott of have brought three large-scale sculptures, epic forms made of natural materials that complement the landscape, where an accessible trail loops through field and forest around play elements constructed of timber and stone. The design organizes these elements into a dynamic experience for users of all ages and abilities, bringing people closer to art and the environment.

TJBA provides aesthetic analysis and visualization services for renewable energy facilities across Vermont to aid in the permitting process. These services include highly accurate photographic simulations, GIS mapping and viewshed analysis, aesthetic analysis reports, and mitigation planting plans. It's always a pleasure to see the projects we've helped permit come to fruition, like the new five-megawatt solar project in Middlebury that will provide Middlebury College with about 30% of its total electricity usage upon completion. The collaborative project between the College, Encore Renewable Energy, and Green Mountain Power is currently under construction. In addition to helping the College reach its goal of achieving 100% renewable energy by 2028, the site itself will also lend ecological and agricultural benefits. For example, the visual mitigation planting our team designed will add more than 550 new native trees and shrubs to the landscape, and pollinator-friendly meadows maintained by grazing sheep will occupy the area under the panels. Swipe to see our simulations of the project, soon to be reality.
