I’ve had my fun at the Snake Alley Art Fair and now I’m open today until at least 2pm!

Unfortunately, this is what my checkout counter currently looks like. 🤦🏻‍♀️ And if we’re being honest, the rest of the shop isn’t looking much better.

A Very Vintage Market prep is in full swing. My first priority is making sure the shop is absolutely jam-packed with treasures for the event… and mission accomplished. The only problem is that most of those treasures are still hiding in boxes.

Every week I convince myself I’ll catch up on pricing. Every week my pickers interpret that as a challenge.

You’d think after all these years I’d find a supplier that sends everything cleaned, repaired, researched, photographed, and tagged with a neat little pricing guide attached. Instead, they keep sending me dusty boxes of mystery objects, random whistles, brass candlesticks, tiny ceramic chickens, and things that make me say, “Well that’s neat, but what on earth is it?”

So if you stop in today and it looks like organized chaos, just know there’s a method to the madness. Somewhere under these piles are hundreds of fresh finds waiting to make it onto the sales floor.

Now if you’ll excuse me, I have a date with a pricing gun and approximately 27 boxes that aren’t going to unpack themselves.

Snake Alley Art Fair! Minus the Snake Alley add the Memorial Auditorium. 🙂 I’m heading in and will give you a peak of what to expect when you come down. The shop will be open this afternoon for a few hours as well.

Unexpected Uranium Drop!

One of the most unusual collections I’ve had come through the shop just arrived today!

These pieces were excavated from historic uranium glass factory sites in Pennsylvania, including areas associated with the Westmoreland Glass Company and Jeannette Glass Company. What you’re seeing here isn’t just uranium glass, it’s a glimpse into the history of how it was made.

We’ve got everything from large chunks and shards down to tiny pieces and even sand, in a variety of colors and textures. And yes…it all glows. 💚

I tried to shine my UV flashlight on as much as possible for the photo, but there was simply too much glowing goodness to fit in one shot.

Our largest chunks have already found new homes, but there are still plenty of fascinating pieces available. These would be incredible for jewelry makers, terrarium builders, artists, collectors, rock hounds, or anyone who just enjoys owning something a little unusual.

Photos don’t quite do them justice, the glow is absolutely stunning in person.

Stop by Burlington Vintage & Co. and see them for yourself before they disappear into other people’s collections.

IMPORTANT SNAKE ALLEY ART FAIR UPDATE

If you've heard that tomorrow's Snake Alley Art Fair is moving indoors due to the weather forecast, it's true! The fair will now be held at Memorial Auditorium.

Pictured is Hilaurie from the Art Center, one of the many people working behind the scenes to make sure one of Burlington's favorite traditions could still happen despite the forecast. With the potential for several inches of rain, the Art Center made the difficult decision to move the event indoors, and Burlington Riverfront Entertainment quickly joined forces with them to make it happen.
Hilaurie will probably be surviving on caffeine, determination, and a few hours of sleep tomorrow, but you'll never see her without a smile. If you spot her, give her a thumbs up. No explanation necessary. In fact, it's better if it's awkward.

I know it's a bummer to change tradition. I've always enjoyed opening on Art Fair Sunday and seeing the crowds make their way through Snake Alley. But when you've got artists who have spent months preparing for this event, and many who have traveled hours to be here, I think we can all agree that finding a way to keep the fair going is better than watching it get washed away.

Honestly, if it's going to rain all day, at least we've got a great way to spend it. Shop. Eat. Browse incredible artwork. Visit with friends. Support local artists and makers. Enjoy being part of the community.

I know the location change may disrupt some Father's Day traditions, but sometimes the years when things don't go exactly as planned end up being the most memorable.

So please come out and support the artists, vendors, and organizers who worked so hard to make tomorrow happen. And let's give a big thank you to the Art Center, Burlington Riverfront Entertainment, and everyone else behind the scenes who found a solution instead of canceling.

Most importantly, please help spread the word:

See you there!

I’d like everyone to meet one of the reasons I can’t keep up with inventory.

This is Steve.

Every time I get caught up, Steve appears with another carload of antiques, collectibles, oddities, and things I didn’t know existed but suddenly need.

This week he brought in a trombone, which seems fitting because he’s really tooting his own horn at this point.

So if you stop in and see something that isn’t priced yet, please remember: I’m working as fast as I can, but Steve appears to be operating under the assumption that I own three additional versions of myself.

Sidewalk Sale Update!

I’ve been adding to the sidewalk sale throughout the day, and there are some really fun finds out there now.

✨ Many items are 50–80% off
✨ A stack of free magazines for crafters, collage artists, and junk journal enthusiasts
✨ Vintage chairs, magazine racks, windows, and assorted treasures
✨ A pair of wooden skis that would make fantastic shelves or cabin décor

Honestly, I’m at the stage of preparing for A Very Vintage Market where I need less stuff and more floor space. 😅

I’ll likely keep adding to the sale throughout the week as weather permits. Once something makes it outside, I’d really prefer not to carry it back in, so there are some pretty good deals to be found.

As always, don’t forget to peek at the Dollar Cart and the Plant Swap while you’re here.

Come adopt some affordable dopamine. ❤️

Open today, and it’s shaping up to be a beautiful evening downtown!

🚨 Last-Minute Sidewalk Sale Alert! 🚨

I am officially at the point where the stuff is starting to win, which means it’s time for a sidewalk sale. 😅

We’re starting to prep for A Very Vintage Market, and I need to make some room. This is just the beginning, I’ll likely be dragging more treasures outside throughout the day as I uncover them.

✨ Steep markdowns
✨ Chairs & rocking chairs for porch season
✨ Magazine racks galore (perfect for starter vinyl collections!)
✨ Craft windows for $1
✨ Items that haven’t even been priced yet—but they’ll be priced to move

And don’t forget the always-entertaining Dollar Cart inside. I’ll be adding to it throughout the day, and you never know what might turn up.

🌿 The Plant Swap Corner is looking a little picked over at the moment, but there are still some great free pots and a few plants waiting for new homes.

Come browse, treasure hunt, and pick up a little affordable dopamine. 💚

Then stick around, it’s shaping up to be a beautiful evening for the Farmers Market downtown!

Farmers Market season is off to a great start, but make sure you put the July 2nd Farmers Market on your calendar as we celebrate a good old-fashioned Fourth of July downtown!

We’re still working out the details, but one of the things I’m most excited about is the Bicycle Parade!

I’ve got my bike ready to go (unless it sells first, then I’ll happily decorate another one). Wagons, scooters, trikes, and strollers are welcome too. Decorate at home, or stop by the shop and use our decorating station. We’ll have a limited supply of patriotic decorations available, some of which may require a little creativity and imagination.

Whether you’re 5 or 95, we’d love to see what you come up with. It’s not about having the fanciest ride, it’s about having fun and celebrating together.

Stay tuned for more details!

I have a mountain of work to catch up on, but unfortunately Mother Nature made the weather way too nice to stay home.

So, I’ll be opening the shop for a few hours today and will be around until about 2 or 3 this afternoon.

Downtown is busy with visitors this weekend, the patios are calling, and Jefferson Street is looking pretty good if I do say so myself. If you’re out enjoying the sunshine, stop in and say hello!

And don’t forget, the Municipal Band plays this evening in Crapo Park. It’s one of my favorite summer traditions and a great way to wrap up a beautiful day.
