Wrapped up a few unique spaces (kitchen, dining area, stairwell & upper game room) in a house in South Portland last week. The home was designed by a fantastic carpenter, every aspect customized, by Jeff Bartlett of Ultra house Inc.

The tragedy unfolding in Flint, Michigan is a scary reminder of the danger that lead contamination poses, especially to developing children and pregnant women.
New England has some of the oldest buildings in the country.
Homes built prior to 1978 have a very high likelihood of having lead in their paint... both outside and INSIDE the home, most commonly (but not exclusively) found in the trim.
It is the responsibility of homeowners and landlords to ensure that the contractors they hire are EPA certified firms.
If you have flaking paint, the largest danger is not the large flakes... It is the minute particles of dust that your family may be ingesting when the compromised surfaces are further disturbed.
Abatement (complete removal) of lead based paint from a home can be very expensive. More and more homeowners are looking towards encapsulation as a more economical option in which exposed or flaking areas are treated and sealed according to lead-safe guidelines and the surfaces are repainted, protection your family from lead.

Farewell 2015! What an amazing year it was! Huge thanks to all our new customers for making 2015 a year of growth and great new relationships!
