I haven't posted or basically been on here since 2023 which was the dark ages so I have to ask CAN I POST A FRIGGEN PICTURE THESE DAYS?! 😆 No clue. Hi. 👋 Hope everyone here is healthy and happy. Lots has happened. We no longer have a steampunk den. Now it's a pink dining room with flower murals (painted by moi). Attic is finished. Oh & we painted the woodwork on the outside of the house pink, black & metallic copper. I have a lot of taxidermy mice. Basically, they're everywhere in the house drinking mini beers & eating mini tater chips pumped out by 3-D printers compliments of Etsy. Maybe I'll do a story. Should I do a story? I don't remember how. Bees is good - down to 8 teeth but otherwise intact. Mike is great. Happy the house is done. Ish. I came on here to plug 's new book Tales of A Not So Tiny House which is MAGNIFICENT & you can buy it on Amazon. Also to plug from which I bought the cutest teensy crocodile taxidermy. Swipe for details. Trust me, between the two, you can't imagine how much fun can be had for less than $100 😆. Fabulous! How is everyone? What have I missed? 😆🫣❤️

If I was on the ball, I'd be leading the pack & this shower would be buried in dangling gourds w/ floating cinnamon sticks & Yankee Candle tea lights in some sort of hayride pumpkin leather scent. If only Instagram was scratch & sniff, although I hesitate to say that b/c one day it probably will be. Some things really are better left unsmelled but tell that to the masters of the universe. I’m taking a wee break from attic fun to finish painting window frames before snowmageddon starts & it’s too cold to open the windows, or they’re frozen shut, b/c that’s just around the corner. In the meantime, swipe to see the shower mural & also the screaming red tile that just arrived. This will go in the attic shower & hopefully that work will commence in October. I’m just in love w/ the whole shower mural concept. Life’s too short for boring showers.

I decided to do an impromptu post of my current view and then to bed. Doesn’t suck in my opinion but it isn’t a trend reel. With a trendy 6 second duration. Or is it 7? Trendy song. Sometimes a picture speaks a thousand words. ❤️ Bye. 👋🏻

IT’S FRIDAY’S FEATURE PRESENTATION & we’re headed to coastal northern England to visit a vision in darkly opulent design & décor aka , home to Nick + fiancé Chris + one cutie Cockapoo pupperoo named Bailey who makes the occasional appearance lounging on swanky leather furniture as all posh doggos must do. Nick & Chris’ home is an Edwardian, altho Nick’s massively inspired by the Victorian era thru the ‘40’s & thus his design style leans Victorian w/ a fusion of Art Deco (the Edwardian period in England between 1901 & 1910 was influenced by the Arts & Crafts movement marked by simpler design & handmade elements in retaliation to mass production & lavishness marking the Victorian age). Nick loves dark, atmospheric & dramatic interiors as well as period interiors & antiques & this comes across clearly in his storied rooms + curiosities styled in captivating vignettes set aglow by candlelight & dimly lit period light fixtures, all evocative of the past. Nick (who owns a family tailoring biz) fell in love w/ period interiors as a child visiting many stately homes & of course by film sets (think Titanic, Dorian Grey, haunted mansions, Dennis Severs House, etc.), & all this manifests in his theatrical home which, he says, evolves more than it changes due to increasing sophistication & refinement in ex*****on. Regardless of how this home is characterized, it truly is a work of art. 🖤

IT’S FRIDAY’S FEATURE PRESENTATION & off we go to the small market town aka Ware, Hertfordshire which is 20 miles north of Central London & home to Nikki + hubs James (self-described as a happy matching of chalk & cheese) + son Hayden + 1 Romanian rescue dog called Tutzy + more black & gold & pink & green than any one person should be allowed lawfully to hoard. So jelly! Nikki is an unabashed maximalist, a lover of gallery walls, many plethora of plants & is a huge fan of the Art Deco era, all of which comes across prominently in her intriguing, gloriously eclectic & exuberant home (as does her vivacious humor which is a brilliant foil for the more glamourous & historical components of her style). Homes are very pricey in her area, so the couple bought a “weeny” i.e. small terraced Victorian which previously was a 2 up, 2 down before they added a loft extension w/ another bedroom & bath + a side return extension off the kitchen (which they also knocked through to enlarge). Nikki says she likes to pretend she lives in a Poirot movie, which is supremely evident in her home which has all the trappings of a movie set as each room projects its own unique character & yet weaves a gorgeous composition suggesting theatrical genius (really). For her day job, Nikki is a senior analyst for an investor relations company (she analyzes share registers) although yrs ago she did a 3-yr interior design course & she’ll soon be pursuing this as well as continuing her brilliant content creation. Nikki’s also a survivor, as she continues to suffer from a staircase fall 18-mos ago in which she broke her back (we do find comfort from all sorts of pain through our creative endeavors, don’t we?). No doubt, this is one inspiring lady. Bravo, Nikki!

Behold Side B of our lounge, replete w/ many special effects + one snoozy pooch + every color in the visible light spectrum. Speaking of color & moving 2 floors up, I was agonizing over whether to continue the deep blue/green going in the attic tower into the rest of the space given it’s taking 4-5 coats to get the desired depth + 17-foot ceilings. I decided common sense is the better part of valor & a lighter color would be beautiful if the tone works & upon substantial reflection HAVE THUS CONCLUDED the most excellent color is the label on the Neptunia bottle. Which btw happens to be the same aqua in Shonda Rhimes’ home on the cover of a recent AD magazine. COVET. Plus, why recreate the color wheel when other people have done it for you? Swipe for detail photos + one gratuitous cute dog pic. I’ll add that we’ve decided to keep the fuchsia on the curved sofa (arrival still pending) + I’m stenciling the walls & ceiling throughout so the AD cover is similar to the look & feel I’m going for. And as for our fav gin in the wide world, see my Neptunia highlights regarding this latest Cabinet of Curiosities release + how to acquire the Magic-of-the-Sea Spa Kit which charitably benefits Project Seagrass.

IT’S FRIDAY’S FEATURE PRESENTATION – WEDNESDAY EDITION & for this captivating adventure in the unusual, we’re headed to a small village in Scotland’s highlands for a 👀 into the unexpected , a beautifully layered & patinaed log home designed & hand-built by Nicky & hubs Grizz (Grizz, who’s a tree surgeon, did the design/build whilst Nicky, a former freelance private chef & furniture artist, designed the interior). The couple, w/ kiddos who’ve flown the nest, started construction in 2005 using trees felled from Loch Ness & locally from Ardverikie Estate where parts of the latest Bond movie was filmed (cinematically pedigreed logs are mandatory). Since then, they’ve moved the home by crane across their plot to accommodate extensions, including a current project of 3 new bedrooms. Nicky’s passionate about interiors & French furniture in particular, resulting in a van trip w/ Grizz to northern France where they collected fav pieces from charity shops & brocantes. Most of their furniture is 2d hand, including the bargain-of-a-lifetime kitchen which Nicky bid online. As for style, Nicky didn’t want the home to feel too “loggy” (brown-on-brown buffalo plaid cliché? Nope), so she’s brought in rich color, including an enviable pink velvet sofa, teal-y green walls, blousy floral wallpaper, a charming hand-painted clawfoot tub + dark teal kitchen fittings, all of which enhance the home’s natural beauty. For embellishments & accouterments, Nicky decks her home w/ cascades of seasonal flora & of course no charming Scottish home is complete w/out equal amounts of fauna, so her grid is graced w/ the occasional wandering flock of chickens & other floofy & feathered friends. Chickens are mandatory. Swipe for a 👀 @ this beauty of a home. Enjoy!
