Amy Upton was officially inducted as a New AIA Fellow at the AIA Conference on Architecture & Design in San Diego. FAIA is one of the highest honors an architect can receive. Amy was selected based on her exceptional work and significant contributions to the profession. She was highlighted as “mainstreaming zero energy building, pioneering industry change, mentoring future professional and her leadership drives profound resilience, climate responsive and equitable environments for all.”

Franconia District Governmental Center is starting strong! This week Grimm + Parker were recognized for this Alexandria, VA collocated facility by Fairfax County Department of Public Works and Environmental Services, receiving their Award of Excellence for Building Design and Construction. Our congratulations, as well, to Manhattan Construction Group for their own recognition on this project!

This two-story, 90,000 sf, collocated facility boasts many independent programs, including: Franconia District Board of Supervisors Office; Kingstowne Regional Library; Kingstowne Active Adult Center; Kingstowne Childcare Center; Franconia Museum; a police department with separate, secure parking structure; public parking structure to serve the remainder of the complex; and a fueling station to serve County vehicles. Today we were thrilled to join the ceremony at The Residences at Belvedere Place in ! This four-story, 113,560 sf, affordable multifamily project is located at Belvedere and Palmer Avenue, directly across from Pimlico Racetrack, which is currently being redeveloped. Belvedere Place is expected to open in Spring 2027 and will have 83 units; residential amenities that include two club rooms, a multipurpose room, and fitness room; and 8,000 sf of retail space.

The doors are officially open at Franconia District Governmental Center in Alexandria, Virginia! We were proud to join Fairfax County Government representatives on a bright and sunny Saturday for the ribbon cutting ceremony, followed by open house events throughout the vibrant and dynamic new building. ✂️
