Ready for our Local Camas Plant Fair this Saturday!

Silene ,’Forged by Fire’. A stunning new cultivar with starry red flowers & a strong rebloom.

Blue hibiscus from New Zealand is a beautiful large bush that blooms summer-frost with beautiful bluish flowers & loves the heat. It may need a bit of protection in a hard winter, but could easily be kept in a large pot and brought in for winter.

Caryopteris,' Gold Crest' is a drought tolerant deer repeller shrub with vivid gold foliage and blue fall flowers for pollinators! One of the most reliable deer resistant shrubs!

Clerodendron, ‘Starshine’ A large showstopper with enormous flowers over a glossy bush. Deciduous in our climate, but will reemerge in spring. Needs some room to romp.

Shady Woodland treasures:

New HARDY BEGONIA with incredible foliage and flowers. ‘Lunar Lights Begonia’.

Lustworthy! Salvia ‘Darcyii’ is one of the most hardy and reliable with true red flowers all summer. She even thrives at Colorado Botanical garden. I really like her for any part sun spot.

Ajuga,'Cordial Canary' is a clumper NOT a runner with chartreuse gold foliage and blue spring flowers. Drought tolerant and deer resistant to brighten a shady spot! At only $7, you could line a shady pathway!

Fuchsia speciosa , forms a large bush with fuzzy foliage & orange tubular flowers.

Assorted currant bushes,
‘Bob Gordon’ Elderberry… a beast that offers tons of black elderberries to make antiviral syrup.

I sometimes bring over 300 varieties to a show, so of course there’s more, but these are a few things you may want to consider. Sometimes things get overlooked and lost in the sea of placards.

Hope to see you at the show Saturday!

With Gratitude,
Stephanie

Hello Cherry Lovers!
It’s time for Cherry days.
Sweet, delicious Rainier (Early Robin) cherries and dark red Chelan cherries are in! I will have my friend Sandys family Cherries here at ‘One Earth Botanical’ Saturday June 28th. Sandys brother grows them on his 25 acre apple, pear and cherry orchard on Lake Entiat near Chelan, Washington.

He sells most of his cherries to New Seasons, but we are lucky that he supplies Sandy 1st to sell to friends.
They are $7 a pound and are pre-packaged in 2 lb. bags for $14.
Cherries this good are only available for a few weeks of the summer, so don't miss out on these if you are a cherry lover! They keep in the fridge for several weeks so plan ahead.

I’m opening the nursery from 10-3 Friday and Saturday. Swing in and visit if you’d like some. Feel free to email in advance and I’ll be sure to reserve some. I will have them in the cooler by the checkout stand.

Hope to see you!

My picks from the nursery today.

For that hot, dry & sunny area that never sees water:

Try some Purple or Pink Scullcap:
They are tiny , about 8” tall and 12” wide & bloom their hearts out summer into fall. After establishment they need very little to no water & support local pollinators. Cute in a Rock garden or hellstrip. It’s easy to fill your Xeric garden with little groupings at … Only $7 buy 3 get one free!

Or try the NEWLY released uber dwarf Cistus called ‘Little Miss Sunshine’. Such a cute little shrublet! Needs no water after the 1st season. Very climate adapted to our Summer dry climate! Little Miss Sunshine makes an adorable little yellow and green variegated textural mound for a sunny dry spot. The foliage is evergreen so it always look good. They are dotted with white flowers in summer. Only 1’x 1’ making them easy to tuck in anywhere.

Now for some Sexy Foliage:
Glossy Angelica has an unreal looking deep green shine, it almost looks plastic and has an elegant and dramatic garden presence. Really cool and rarely seen variety. I’m trying hard not to hoard them all for my own gardens!

Lithodora ‘Gold n Sapphires’ has the same electric blue flowers as the species, but the foliage is brilliant yellow. This is also a new release from Terra Nova. Makes a great front of the border edger. The foliage is evergreen to carry you through those winter months. Likes sun & has low water needs.

Brunnera ‘Alexandria’
Stunning pewter foliage to light up a shade garden. Every shade garden needs at least one, especially if you have hungry deer! They have evergreen foliage, low water needs & can handle less than perfect soil. The leaves get large & showy & as a bonus there are starry wands of blue flowers in spring.

Now for some Fragrance!
Cestrum ‘Orange Zest’ …Fragrant yellow flowers all summer into fall on this 5’ shrub. The foliage smells like peanut butter too! I tested 3 of them in my own garden and while they didn’t remain evergreen, they are perfectly hardy and look great after a winters slumber!

Azalea ‘Westons ‘Ribbon Candy’
A Summer blooming azalea can be a welcome garden surprise, especially with a lovely sweet/ spicy fragrance! They are in bloom now. Limited quantities and one is destined for my own gardens, so come by if you are lusting after one!

Star Jasmine Vines: I have some nice big ones, staked and in full bloom! The fragrance is delicious and the glossy green foliage is evergreen. I have walls of them in my gardens and absolutely LOVE them. Only a few available.

Mini hostas … so cute!
Fireworks ‘Mini’ hosta .
I’m creating a little path to a fairy garden with these brilliant little hostas. Not to worry, I have some to share! Cute in a container or tucked in a garden as a tiny treasure.

Salvia ‘Mesa Azure’ & ‘Lipstick’
While everyone loves and buys salvias with large flower wands… I love them and carry them too, but my favorites are the greggii , the workhorses of the gardens.
Mesa Azure has thousands of small purple flowers late spring into fall on a low dense 2’ mound. While she can handle a sunny dry garden, I’m impressed with the blooms in part day sun. Reliably hardy for me. Only $7 for years of blooms.
Lipstick Salvia is similar and also has an impressive bloom-time late spring-fall with lipstick cherry red flowers.

As a reminder… The nursery is open 10-3 Fridays and Saturdays this summer, but closed 4th of July weekend.

Also by appointment. Just email me at [email protected] and let me know when you'd like to visit.

Hope to see you soon.

Light & Love,
Stephanie

Last Open Nursery Day!

I've had some requests to reopen this Saturday, so...I'm planning a repeat of last Saturday for anyone who didn't have a chance to visit and for those who want to come back.
It will be a LOT slower and I will hopefully have more time to spend visiting with all of you. I treasure your friendship! I will also have more time to show you around the new gardens, show you the completed hardscaping and talk about all the plans for next year.

I just had a shipment of newbies, including shrub and vine selections with a focus on drought tolerance and deer resistance. I potted them up and the root systems are big and healthy.

Most things are on fall clearance pricing and this is the PERFECT time to get your plantings in. It allows the roots to develop and things are able to reemerge in spring with vigor.

Hope to see you tomorrow (Saturday the 20th). 9-3.

With Gratitude,
Stephanie

Tour of the New Event/ Wedding Center & Open Nursery Day

Hi my friends. As many of you know we’ve been working all summer in the lower, sunken garden area. It’s now complete
We had my sons wedding last weekend and it was magical and I now have a beautiful new Daughter, who I adore!

All the hardscaping is done. We now have curved concrete steps, a large stone patio, a new raised bar/ appetizer area complete with a propane firepit. (Thank you, Diana!) There’s a giant wedding tent, new gardens on both sides of the little bridge including several other new gardens. There’s an arbor and all the gardens are planted with a combination of annuals and perennials. (Thank you Sherri). After dark it all lights up with fairy lights.

I would love to share it with you this Saturday, September 14th. I’m planning a tour for anyone who would like to see it, in the morning from 9:30-10ish. Then I will open the nursery till 3.

Big Yard Sale at the Nursery

Hi everyone. I’m hosting a yard sale here at my nursery, Saturday July 27th 9-2 and Sunday July 28th 10-3. A close friend is moving from a 3 bedroom into an RV to travel. Everything must go!

It’s the last time I plan to open for the Summer. The nursery and gardens are in full bloom. You are welcome to wander the walking trails and gardens or just sit and visit.

There will be:
Furniture sets, a china cabinet, TV stands, tables, chairs, a wine cooler, childrens games, concrete statues, pottery, a paper shredder and other treasures.

Since I only have one Friesian mare that doesn’t ride anymore… I plan to offer up all my horse tack, including an Ansur treeless saddle, saddle pads, ba****ck soft saddle, coolers, a bridle and more.

Much of the nursery will be deeply discounted with some BOGO deals.

Hope to see you next weekend!
