It's been such a cold spring so far, but the bulbs are starting to really come in. Rabbit and squirrel damage has been formidable this year, but we've managed to keep most of our tulips going. We've used rabbit scram, red pepper, garlic, and more or less every product we can find, and we've avoided major losses in most gardens. Here's hoping for some warmer temps soon!

I'm always a little devastated when the bulbs go by, but now it's on to more planting. Summer's around the corner!

Last summer we donated a garden to the Canadian American Club in Watertown. I'm a member of the Boston Scottish Fiddle Orchestra and we hold our gala there every year. The garden was really looking sad and I enlisted my boys, who worked part time on the crew last year, to help. They dug out all the nasty grass on a really hot July day, and we planted perennials, shrubs and then bulbs in the fall. I'm so pleased with how it came out, and happy to give back to the community!
