The Galante Architecture Studio, Inc.

The Galante Architecture Studio, Inc. An innovative architecture studio pursuing excellence in design, construction, and urban planning. The firm has been honored with many awards and publications.

The Galante Architecture Studio (TGAS) works from two locations, Cambridge, MA, and New York City. Our work consists of new construction, alterations and additions, feasibility studies and master planning. We are fortunate to count major cities and institutions among our client base, including: Amtrak, Boston, Boston Fire Department, Cambridge, Harvard University, New York City, FDNY, and many oth

ers. Our work is a careful blend of contemporary design within a given context. We take program elements and sort out spatial needs, adjacency relationships, and volumetric conditions to arrive at multiple design options. These are communicated via customary architectural drawings, but also physical models, computer models, renderings and alternative media. Upon presenting renderings to one of the Vice President’s at Harvard University, she responded “a brilliant solution to an impossible design problem.” This solution was built to exacting standards with similar praise upon completion. The Galante Architecture Studio has become a specialist in respectfully integrating new projects into historic contexts. Our libraries built in small New England towns were initially approached with uncertainty. As the design developed, and now after successful completion, each town is proud of their new facility and how it contributes to the overall context. 90% of our clients are repeat clients and are ardent supporters of the practice. Our track record for precise cost estimating is very strong. We have experienced licensed contractors on staff, as well as ongoing discussions with project contractors. Our cost estimating strategies include detailed quantity surveys providing a full accounting of all elements, sending documents to contractors during design development to confirm costs, and employing add alternates during bidding to manage bids and to ultimately lead to a successful award and project completion. As LEED Accredited Professionals we specialize in sustainable practices and guide clients through the myriad of building and energy code requirements for their projects. We have designed and installed Photovoltaic Panels, Solar Hot Water Panels, Rapidly Renewable materials, and many other types of sustainable strategies. We’ve been successfully integrating elements like this since well before they were required.

The City of Cambridge DPW conducted a meeting yesterday in the Cambridge Fire Department Headquarters apparatus bay. Our own Paolo Carissimi and Elisa Farruggia presented an overview of the headquarters, expected to be completed in a few months. After digging into our inner child - building high-rise spaghetti towers that can each support a marshmallow, the DPW crew received a well-deserved tour through the soon-to-be completed renovation.

When was the last time you paused to observe a door handle? This is exactly why we are collaborating with Galante Design Studio. Our designs evoke emotion and create experiences worth remembering. We strive to enrich the life of each person who sees, touches, hears, smells, and yes, tastes the places we create, although we don’t recommend tasting our door handles.

Architectural sustainability requirements are increasing every year, particularly for municipal projects. “Don’t Be Blindsided by Sustainability Requirements,” written by our Founding Principal, Ted Galante, walks through how we have designed three New England fire stations to exceed their goals while maintaining project budgets. If you plan to revitalize or replace your fire station in the coming years, this article is for you. help us visualize projects before they are completed. They can be helpful throughout all phases of a project, from conceptualizing what a building could look like to illustrating how it will appear once construction is complete. Renderings are especially helpful in highlighting the intent behind our design .

The Galante Architecture Studio participated in the ceremony yesterday for Chelmsford Fire Stations 3 and 5.

To support the growing Town of , MA, we’ve designed two state-of-the-art focused on fast response times and department health. Both buildings are designed to be durable and easy to maintain, emphasizing long-lasting materials that will require little upkeep cost throughout the buildings’ lifespans.

The two stations will support Chelmsford’s overall goals by utilizing an all-electric system supported by on-site wells and panels. Backup generators will be readily available to keep the town’s fire stations online throughout severe weather emergencies or other potential calamities. The Town of Chelmsford received a $1 million federal grant from the United States Department of Energy Resources (DOER) Green Communities Division to fund its sustainability features.

The fire stations are expected to be completed by August 2027.

Completed in 2014, the Harvard University Ceramics Studio remains a community-centered project we are incredibly proud of. A high-bay, former garage space, was perfect for its state-of-the-art kiln room. Overhead doors provide seamless access to the exterior, while high ceilings engage strong ventilation systems for Harvard’s collection of gas and electric kilns. This 12,500 SF facility has level floors for pottery wheels, open community spaces, safely separated glaze rooms, spray booths, classrooms, and a street-facing gallery space. Community members, Harvard students, and Artists in Residence work side by side in sun-filled, safe, and efficient studios. Their work is stored in an easily accessible mezzanine, while personal lockers allow for a fresh change of clothes between home and studio.
