🏠 5 SMALL WARNING SIGNS THAT CAN TURN INTO EXPENSIVE HOME REPAIRS

Most major home repairs don’t happen overnight. Your house usually gives you warning signs first—the key is knowing what to look for.

As we head toward fall and winter, take a few minutes to walk around your home and check for these five things:

1️⃣ Soft or discolored spots around windows and doors
This can indicate that water is getting behind the trim, siding, or flashing.

2️⃣ Gutters pulling away from the house
Loose or overflowing gutters can send water toward your roofline, siding, and foundation instead of safely away from the house.

3️⃣ Missing, lifted, or curling shingles
Even a small damaged area can allow moisture into the roof system—especially during heavy rain, snow, and freeze-thaw cycles.

4️⃣ Cracks or gaps in exterior caulking
Check around windows, doors, vents, and utility penetrations. These openings can let in water, cold air, and unwanted pests.

5️⃣ A deck that feels loose, bouncy, or unusually soft
Movement, soft boards, and rusted fasteners may point to problems underneath the surface that shouldn’t be ignored.

The best time to address these issues is while they’re still small—not after water has reached the insulation, drywall, framing, or foundation.

☀️ NOT A BAD VIEW FROM THE “OFFICE” TODAY…

One of the coolest parts of working in this industry is that no two days—or job sites—are ever quite the same.

Today, the Viking Construction team found ourselves high above the field at the University of Akron’s InfoCision Stadium, taking in a view most people never get to experience while assisting our solar partner, , Hello Sunray
We were there to help inspect an existing solar system currently being evaluated for future maintenance and service. Harnessed in and surrounded by rows of solar panels, it was a unique opportunity to see the stadium—and Akron—from an entirely different perspective.

Beyond the incredible views, today was also a great reminder of what strong partnerships are all about. Whether it’s a new installation, an inspection, troubleshooting an existing system, or simply lending another set of experienced eyes, we’re proud to show up when our partners need us.

Because when the people we work alongside grow, we grow with them.

Another day in the field. Another incredible opportunity. And definitely not your average day at the office.

🏌️‍♂️ Building strong communities—one swing at a time!

Today, the Viking Construction crew traded our tool belts for golf clubs and participated in the 2026 Orrville Area Boys & Girls Club Golf Outing at Riceland Golf Course.

We were proud to support an organization that helps approximately 1,200 young people throughout Wayne County grow, succeed, and build brighter futures. Most of the money raised through today's outing will go towards their golf program - giving local kids another fun way to learn the game, develop new skills, and discover a hobby they can enjoy for years to come.

Apparently, the same things that matter on the jobsite matter on the golf course: a solid plan, attention to detail, teamwork, and a strong follow-through. It worked pretty well we tied 4th overall shooting 16 under with a score of 55! Not quite the trophy, but good enough to mention in the company newsletter. 😏⛳

Thank you to the Orrville Area Boys and Girls Club organizers, sponsors, and everyone who made today possible. We had a great time supporting an even greater cause.

Our projects include home additions, large-scale renovations, decks, garages, custom homes, and commercial construction. We’re looking for someone who takes pride in their craftsmanship and can produce professional-quality work with limited supervision.

Ideal candidates should have:

• Experience with framing, finish carpentry, and general residential construction
• The ability to read plans, take accurate measurements, and solve problems in the field
• Their own basic hand tools and reliable transportation
• Strong attention to detail and jobsite safety
• A professional attitude and dependable work ethic
• The ability to work independently and as part of a team
