That rustic planked wood door look is everywhere right now. And for good reason. It is gorgeous.

But here is what most people don’t know. Build that door the traditional way, gluing solid strips of wood edge to edge, and you are setting yourself up for trouble. Over time those doors want to ripple, warp, and pull out of flat. It is just what solid wood does as it responds to humidity and temperature.

So we engineered a better way. We start with a stable half inch apple ply core, edge band it, then laminate quarter inch solid white oak strips to the face. You get the exact same beautiful planked look, in white oak, walnut, or whatever species you want, with none of the warping that plagues a traditional solid plank door.

Beautiful and stable. That is the whole point of doing it right.

Beautiful and smart. That is the standard every Funtime bathroom build is held to.

These fluted white oak cabinet doors are stunning on their own. One inch thick solid faced panels, rift cut grain, and custom mortise tab pulls that sit flush and clean without interrupting the texture of the wood. The kind of detail that makes a bathroom feel like it was designed by someone who genuinely cared about every surface.

But open the drawers and the function matches the beauty. A hidden drawer tucked above the sink base for toothpaste and daily essentials. And a drawer with a built-in 20 amp docking drawer outlet that powers on when the drawer opens and off when it closes, with a heat sensor that cuts the power if you forget to turn off your curling iron.

Gorgeous on the outside. Genuinely thoughtful on the inside. That is custom cabinetry done right.

The best cabinetry doesn’t just fill a space. It belongs to it.
These chamfered edge details weren’t chosen at random. They were designed specifically to echo the architectural detail of the home, so that every built-in feels like it was always meant to be there.

That is what separates a custom cabinet from one that simply looks custom. One is designed around the room. The other is dropped into it.

At Funtime we design every piece around the space it lives in. Down to the last detail.

A kitchen this beautiful deserves to stay that way.

What makes that possible is not just the design. It is what goes into every cabinet before it ever reaches the wall.

Premium materials chosen for longevity as much as appearance. Joinery and construction built to hold up to daily life for decades without compromise. Craftsmen who treat every single piece with the same level of care regardless of where it ends up in the room.

This deep black kitchen with its brass hardware, integrated paneled refrigerator, marble backsplash, and glass front uppers will look exactly as considered ten years from now as it does today. Because it was built that way from the very beginning.

At Funtime, we do not build cabinets for the short term. We build them to last.

You want it a certain way. We build it that way. Full stop.

This custom handle-free drawer front is a perfect example of what that looks like in practice. A client had a specific angle in mind for their integrated pull. Not a standard option from a catalog. Not close enough. Exactly what they envisioned. So we built it, with a solid wood backing piece finished completely flush for a result that is as refined on the inside as it is on the outside.

That is the real difference between custom and everything else. There is no list of available options. There is just what you want and our job to build it.

Any angle. Any profile. Any door or drawer front. Any way you want it.

When a 25,000 square foot home needs bathrooms worthy of the rest of it, you don’t cut corners anywhere.

Flush inset face frames. One inch thick solid doors. Five eighths thick solid hard maple dovetail drawer boxes. Undermount Blum soft close slides throughout. And a custom panel behind every sink door so that when you open the cabinet, all you see is a beautifully finished interior.

Every bathroom in this house gets the same level of attention. Because in a home like this, there is no such thing as a detail that doesn’t matter.

This is traditional cabinetry built the way it should be built.

This one goes in before the drywall. 🪵

Not every cabinet install is straightforward, and this is a perfect example of why custom cabinetry requires a completely different level of planning and expertise. This piece has to be in place before the drywall goes up, with an eighth inch space carefully built in so the drywall L metal can turn and die right into it. Seamless from day one.

And the craft behind it matches the complexity of the install. A continuous grain veneer face that follows the full arc of the piece from a single sheet, so the grain never breaks. One inch thick doors. Solid dovetail maple drawers with undermount soft close slides. Bench pieces built to receive custom pads. Every reveal in the house is three quarter inch, and this piece holds that language all the way through.

This is what it looks like when cabinetry is treated as architecture.

Those sliding mirror bypass doors have got to go. 🚪

You know the ones. The wobbly mirrored closet doors that come standard in just about every bedroom in America. They look cheap, they never slide right, and they’re hiding a closet that could be doing so much more.

Tear them out and replace them with custom wardrobe cabinets that actually work. Double hanging for shirts and jackets. Drawers for folded clothes. Long hanging for dresses and coats. More storage than a single rod and shelf could ever give you, in the same exact footprint.

And it’s not as expensive as you’d think.

Custom closets aren’t just for big budgets. They’re for anyone who’s done with the builder basic look.
