We added this backsplash to a kitchen of a new build home. It brings joy, delight, and practical protection to the hub of this customer's home.

Customer said: "Matt and his team were so easy to work with; they listened to our vision for this tile, they worked efficiently, and their handy work on this project is perfect. They were focused on what we wanted and brought their own insight and skill to the project. They also were so tidy and cleaned up everything. It was a great experience!"

Meet Steve!
Steve is Lead Carpenter for Matt's Renovations and in many ways, Matt's right hand man. Although Matt oversees and finalizes all work, when his presence is required somewhere else, you'll typically interact with Steve as the lead on your project.

Steve is a great general contractor and works on all projects, but his speciality is carpentry. He especially loves doing trimwork. Baseboards, windowsills, and crown molding are his favorite projects to work on. He created a skirt board from scratch (video) and perfectly fits wood together in corners (video). He is also able to texture match new wood with already existing wood.

On the job site, Steve enjoys listening to metal music and using the drywall lift (video). In his free time, Steve's hobbies include drawing and acrylic painting.

This general contracting project involved a lot of project management and collaboration.

We prepared the space for a fresh look by doing a full kitchen demo and removing flooring throughout the house. We repaired water damage in the subfloor of the kitchen from a water leak and updated the location of water and electric as needed.

We then coordinated the arrival of several contractors involved in the kitchen remodel. The counter space was dramatically improved with a long central cabinet install by Stonebridge Woodworks and stone countertops by Troy Granite. Don's Appliances contributed new, bigger appliances. Woodpecker Flooring installed hardwood flooring throughout the kitchen and living room (not pictured).

Our team added drop down lighting in the kitchen, brightening the space. We retextured the kitchen ceiling to match the rest of the house. We completed the tile work, which added waterproofing and class to the backsplash, around the window, and behind the drink bar. We also finalized the many additional contracting details involved in completing the look and bringing it all together.

The renovations then continued to the basement stairs, which our team updated from carpet to LVP.

In the basement, we replaced the damaged ceiling and drywall in the basement kitchen area. We also made similar water damage repairs in the basement garage. We installed LVP throughout the entire basement, updated the lighting, painted, and added trim. We also installed tile flooring in the laundry room and powder room (not pictured). Finally, we again worked with the same contractors to install the second kitchen in the basement.

This was a great team effort that produced beautiful spaces ready for the family and friends that call it home!

This kitchen gut and remodel had some really interesting and unique elements!

Originally, the stairs to the basement and the first floor bathroom were both accessed from the corner of the kitchen. Our team revamped the layout in order to maximize kitchen space and make the bathroom and stairs easier to access.

We added a wall where the new fridge now stands, changed the bathroom layout to be accessed from the dining room, and rerouted the basement stairs to the living room.

Rearranging the kitchen appliances somewhat created a lot more space in the kitchen, and then we fitted cabinets to the ceiling.

What a transformation! This project is a great example of how we can help you to dream big and create something new beyond simply an updated look.

Check back next week for a video tour of the kitchen and bath!

Meet Matt!

Matt is the owner of Matt's Renovations. Matt is the principal contractor, but he also works hard running the business.

On the job site, he enjoys doing carpentry and especially loves the project management aspects of the work. This includes envisioning new layouts for a space, problem solving, working with other businesses, and efficiently assigning projects to team members.

One of Matt's favorite tools is the bulldog. A bulldog is like a mini jack hammer or a large drill. It's used to take out old tile or drill through brick. In the photo, Matt is using the bulldog to add an exterior kitchen vent.

When Matt isn't rebuilding something, he loves to spend time with family and friends and volunteers with his church's youth group.

Home for the holidays means a lot of extra dishes. After all morning in the kitchen making holiday magic, no one wants to spend all afternoon doing dishes by hand. Good thing this customer now has a dishwasher!
