When you go with the lowest bid on your home project, you kind of expect the workmanship to be a little lesser… but this one was rough. This was a newly constructed shower that we had to completely demo and rebuild from the ground up.
We always encourage our customers to get multiple estimates. We also understand we may not be the cheapest bid — but we’re usually not the most expensive either. What we can promise is when you choose Out The Mud, you’re getting the best results we can offer using the best products and proper installation methods.
There’s a reason some contractors can “start today” and come in way cheaper than everyone else. Unfortunately, in this case, there was ZERO waterproofing. Roofing flashing tape was used on the seams, there was no proper slope on the shower floor, and the tile was basically set straight to the concrete so the shower never drained correctly.
Not trying to knock anyone else, but this simply isn’t the way you treat customers. We install every shower like it’s going in our own home. We carry workers comp and general liability insurance, understand the installation process inside and out, and stay up to date with the latest shower systems, waterproofing technologies, and industry standard tile practices.
The previous installer took nearly four weeks working about one day a week. Typically, we can have our customers back in their shower in around five working days on a standard remodel.
One cool detail on this project — the homeowner requested we keep the tub spout because she likes filling buckets in the shower, and we were happy to make that happen for her.
Thank you guys for coming to my TED Talk! I hope everyone has a great weekend! Here are the finished photos of this beautiful shower transformation.
