In the mid 1980's this house was built by Gulf Coast Homes of Lee County, Inc. I know because I designed and illustrated it. I was the lead designer and senior employee. This model was called The Continental Mark 7. It was a very popular model. The signature decorative wood rafters, wood beam and front column at the front entry of this model almost always got removed over the years because the wood beam and rafters always rotted away.
Fast forward some 40 years and I just designed and illustrated the new house to the right being built. This model is one of my biggest selling, most popular models called the Captiva. Keep watching for progress pictures. The site is on Stratford Street in Cape Coral, Florida.

The Fiebig residence in Cape Coral, Florida that was completed in May of 2015. I designed this house from sketches I put together with a "Sharpie" on some sketch paper while meeting with the client. Yep, that's a bidet in the master bathroom. This Client was German and bidets are very common in Europe. This was about the last year I used arch top windows. I don't miss them but they look pretty good on this design. If I were to "update" this design today there would be all square top windows.
A fun fact about this client was that some 25 years prior to 2015, around 1990 he built a house with Gulf Coast Homes of Lee County where I was senior employee and lead designer/draftsman. Yes I designed that house too. Later, after this house in 2015 I designed several other houses that he sold as spec houses.

The Levins residence from 2013-2014 that I designed and was built on Captiva Island, Florida. Captiva Island and North Captiva Islands are separated by Red Fish Pass. They are barrier islands of the Lee Island Coast in Lee County, Florida. Captiva Island you can drive a car to but North Captiva is accessible by boat or small airplane only. This was an all wood pile and wood frame house that has "Conventional Frame" roof rafters built on site instead of pre-engineered wood roof trusses that come from a truss manufacturer. I thought I'd rerun these photos since it's been 12 years ago that this house was complete.
Enjoy.
BTW.....
This house sustained minimum damage from Hurricane Ian in September 2022 considering it is only 2,000 feet from the Gulf and 200 feet from Pine Island Sound which is a large Bay. It was reported to me from the owner that the damage costs did not exceed $30,000.00.

Here's a nice example of a "Zero Corner" sliding glass door open then closed. This one is in my Tobago Model. It brings the pool and lanai right into the great room.

Back in 2016 - 2019 I did quite a few ICF home designs. ICF stands for Insulated Concrete Form. These pictures are from December 2018 in South Gulf Cove in Port Charlotte, Florida. I haven't had too many requests for this type of construction so I haven't done any lately and don't offer the service anymore. The plans require much more details than standard construction plans do and the contractors don't want to pay the extra fees.

The San Carlos Island project continues to move along. The metal roof has been installed along with the windows and exterior doors on the rear porch. They are currently installing the siding and trim. Looking good.
Some of these pictures are of where I was standing on the neighboring lot where a new (post Hurricane Ian) seawall has been installed too low. You can see a mean high tide has breached the seawall and it's actually underwater. But if you look at my clients build, their new seawall is about a foot higher and is dry.

The stem wall is up on the Lagoon Street Project. Now all the interior area gets backfilled with dirt, then the rough plumbing gets installed. After that, the fill dirt is compacted and the concrete sub-contractor preps for the slab pour which will be the garage floor that on this project is just about 3.5' above the crown of the road. Sea level is about 4.0 feet below the crown of road so this garage floor will be up to 7.5' above sea level which is still below flood level so hydrostatic relief vents will be required.
Keep following (and commenting) as this house GROWS.

I had a boss one time from 1986 - 1997 who upon hiring new sub-contractors would have them meet in person at his (our) office for a meet and greet type of interview. His office had a big picture window to the parking lot and when the (hopeful) sub-contractor showed up he'd be told by the receptionist via interoffice phone intercom that his "Appointment was here" the first thing he did was look out the window and see how bad or nice the sub-contractors vehicle was. Was it ratty and run down or was it in good shape and appeared clean and well taken care of. His theory was that if the sub-contractor didn't care enough to take care of his own company work vehicle that it was possible his workmanship might be just as bad.
I learned a lot from this boss and respect him to this day as one of 6 or 7 mentors who have shaped me into the business man I am today.

Five Star Drafting Inc. will no longer accept checks from this bank. I had a corporate account with this bank like four or five years ago for ONLY 9 months before I'd had enough. They gave me flack when I tried to cash my own check there while I had an account with them. Then they closed all of their drive in lanes (all the branches in my area) where I no longer had that convenience. There were a few other reasons, at that time that made me change banks for my corporate account. Now fast forward to today. A client wrote me a check to my name, not my company. I just said, no problem I'll go to Bank of America and cash it and get the cash for my petti cash drawer, all's good. Nope! Bank of America wouldn't cash the check. I said ok, I've had this happen before and said how about you calling my customer who is your customer for variation BUT they said NO! We cannot make or accept a phone call from him. So I left the bank. I called my client, and he said IDK what's going on, it's my corporate account where there is plenty of money to cover the $1,000.00 check. The client just called me back and said he had to jump through hoops and loops but he was able to get that particular branch to put a note on the account to let William Ford cash all checks from now on. Now I gotta go back over there where I plan on "Pleasantly" letting them know that I never plan on stepping foot in a Bank of America again (after this time, today) According to my client, he had the bank transfer him to their fraud department where they couldn't find anything wrong with his account. And "Oh! were sooooo sorry this happened please send Mr. Ford back in and we'll accommodate him".
