Much like flooring, cabinetry, lighting, or countertops, window coverings play a major role in how a home functions, feels, and ultimately presents itself.

A common guideline when planning for quality custom window coverings is budgeting approximately 1–3% of the home’s value, depending on:
• Size of the home
• Number and scale of windows
• Motorization and automation
• Fabric selections
• Layering (draperies + shades, etc.)
• Specialty shapes or outdoor living spaces

The right window treatments do far more than cover glass. They influence:

*Energy efficiency
*Acoustics
*Privacy
*Sleep quality
*Comfort during Arizona summers
*The overall emotional feel of a room

A few things I always encourage homeowners to think about before selecting window coverings:

• How do you want the room to feel?
• Is privacy important during the day, at night, or both?
• Do you want soft filtered light or room darkening?
• Will the space benefit from layered treatments?
• Are the products proportionate to the scale and architecture of the home?
• How important is convenience and automation?
• Are you choosing something timeless or simply trendy?

Beautiful window coverings should feel intentional — enhancing the architecture of the home rather than competing with it.

The difference between “something on the window” and a thoughtfully designed solution is often what makes a home feel truly finished.
