2 Hour Design

Affordable Home & Business Interior Design with Your Time in Mind I will give the complete plans to you or your contractor to implement.

My Mission:
To provide aesthetic and functional design ideas for your home or business in a timely manner at an affordable price to clients looking to improve the value of their property. I'm here to help those in need of project ideas, whether it's updating style or updating the function of your home for a loved one (aging in place, making your home more accessible). In just 2 steps, I will 1) ob

serve the current project, and 2) then develop a creative plan, including product specifications and layout sketches needed for making the update. (Completing the project in a small timeframe does not mean the project will be completed same day as the walk-through. Designs will typically be completed 2-3 weeks after the walk-through. For larger projects exceeding the scope of an 8-hour period, an estimate will be given.) Two Steps:
After making initial contact with me to discuss the scope of the project and decide on appropriate time/budget:

1) I will complete a home or business walk-through at no charge, so that photos and measurements can be taken.

2) I will develop drawing(s) and provide specifications for the products selected. The complete plans will then be given to you for completion (for those DIY’ers!), or given to the contractors of your choice to implement the plan. Your Design Will Include:
1) The Layout Drawing - whether showing an overhead view of a room layout or a vertical wall drawing (elevation), this drawing will be completed by scale for measurements taken and will include necessary dimensions and sizes of objects. Example layouts may include: furniture, lighting, rugs, flooring, etc., depending on the scope of the project.

2) Product design suggestions and specifications - for each item selected for your design weather paint, flooring, lighting, furniture and/or decor, The product name, manufacture, price and specific product web links will be included for each item. Why Two Hours?
1) It keeps quality design affordable and timely for clients.

2) It helps me keep my family a priority. :)

I recently had the privilege to work on a project for the Carthage Crisis Center's Treasures on Main store. The Crisis Center is planning to make updates to their Treasures on Main store as funds allow, and this process will be done in phases. They plan to make functional updates to the historic building, as well as revamp the interior of the store. They would gratefully accept any grants or donations towards this cause. Celesta and Jude are stellar DIY’ers, and this kitchen reno they did is beautiful.
Celesta knew the overall “look” she was going for; she had just asked me for help with the vision of making it happen, and some encouragement to do it! (And Celesta, I felt the same way about our orange-y oak cabinets when we moved into our house! 😜 Check out her full blog article linked below.)

There are different levels of design I can help with. Anywhere from a vision board with a theme, inspo images, and colors for a space, to a floor layout drawing for space planning, or 3D SketchUp color images to help you see your space come to life, and I can even create a spreadsheet with a list of linked products to complete a space.
For Celesta, we did a vision board, along with 3D SketchUp images.

Project Highlight: I had the opportunity to work with Lora Honey-Phelps on a Home project and Pool house project for their family. Their home is already beautiful, with lovely millwork, wood floors and ceiling heights, but she was looking to make some updates in their entryway, dining room, kitchen and living room - while their pool house was a new addition for them.
I was able to suggest products for both projects and present the project in 3D using Sketchup.

Project Highlight: Julie Scott had reached out for some help to convert a large space into a cozy guest suite. The space already had wonderful potential, with ample space, a large half bath, a kitchenette, and sloping ceilings that added character. For the design plan, I added a wall down the center, featuring sliding barnwood doors, to divide the main large room creating a private bedroom and changing area on one side, with the living area, desk, and extra pull-out bed on the opposite side of the new wall. I inserted a new glass-door/tiled walk-in shower in the bathroom, as well as new double vanity. Lastly, some cosmetic updates were made, such as new paint color, faux stone fireplace, and lighting – not to mention some new rustic furniture and rugs. Such a fun space to design, with the ultimate goal of their guests having a cozy space they look forward to staying in!

Project Highlight: Kara Hardesty’s mid-century modern home was a beautiful work in progress – and we know how talented Kara and Ed (and her mom Karen!) are at renovation. It was an honor to help them with a mid-century modern living room style… which is honestly a bit of a challenge or “stretching” for me, as I didn’t have a lot of “MCM” experience under my belt. These are SketchUp images of their Living Room plan.

Project Highlight: Abi Almandinger had asked for help with a rental property – an upstairs apartment overlooking the historic Carthage square. With its unique length, walls had been built to create private rooms, but also blocking any natural light. Removing some walls and the acoustic drop ceiling were priority, as well as a bathroom renovation. And look at this amazing antique brick wall!

For those that maybe wondering what’s included in one of my 2 Hour Design project proposals, this is a recent project I had the opportunity to work on for Abi Putnam Almandinger. Every project is different depending on scope, but this project included 2 options with 1) Floor plan drawings to scale, 2) Kitchen, bathroom, and living room drawings, 3) Product image & color “boards”, & 4) Spreadsheets with recommended products’ names, prices, & online links to purchase. Super fun!

I had the privilege of working on a church coffee shop design project with an incredible team of people (late 2019- early 2020). The Bridge coffee shop gave me the opportunity to use my design passion that I hadn’t used in years (besides in my own house), and my was it fun!
I have a God-given passion to revamp, makeover, beautify spaces. Just ever so grateful to Him for giving me the opportunity to work on this project. ❤️🙏
