Sorry folks, we've been so busy that I haven't taken time to let everyone know that we're open for the season. We had so much COLD weather this spring that the plants were slow to get up and growing.

I've had lots of calls regarding the plant list on the website. The plant list and order form are current, even though it says "2023." The programmer hasn't had a chance to get that updated.

The Golden Alexanders are host plants for the black swallowtail butterflies. I found two little swallowtail caterpillars on this plant today. Can you see them? The wind was blowing and moving the plant, so the picture is fuzzy.....

Greetings folks! We've been so crazy busy here at the nursery that I forgot to send an update. We are open for the season! I don't remember a time when we've gotten off to such a late start. The majority of April was COLD so the plants were very slow to "wake up." Some of them are still not rooted into the pots very well, but most are looking good. Hope to see you soon!

Happy Spring!! We've had lots of people calling, emailing, and stopping by the nursery to see if we are open for the 2023 season. We have been busy digging roots from the growing site and potting them, but we do not have greenhouses, so we're completely at the mercy of the weather. We're waiting for the plants to "wake up" from winter dormancy, which will take some consistently WARM weather. We hope to have plants ready by the first of May, but no guarantees! Stay tuned, folks......

It's hard to believe the season is coming to an end 😞, but here's the good news for our customers: It's time for the end-of-season sale at Blooming Prairie Nursery! September is a great time to plant natives! The air temps are cooling down, but the soil is still warm, giving the plants plenty of time to get "rooted in" before winter.
