“LET’S TALK TURF”
If we’ve got you curious and interested in artificial grass let’s talk about some of the issues and questions we’ve encountered over the years.
How long will it last? A very long time! SHAWGRASS is made out of 100% recycled plastic. There are several turf cleaning products available on the market but a monthly rinse with a hose usually will accomplish the need. You will receive a 20 year warranty for your residential project and a 15 year for your commercial project.
Is it easy to clean up after pet waste? Easier than natural grass because the waste will drain through the artificial grass drain holes or can be hosed away. Natural grass is very hard to completely clean and often bugs, ticks, and smell linger. Urine will kill natural grass leaving it yellow or brown.
Pile height? How important is it? Pile height is the length of the plastic green blade of grass. Pile height is very important for your project. Typically the longer the pile height, the more comfortable it is on your feet. Backyards we suggest a minimum of 2.00”. Playgrounds, sport courts, or putting greens much much shorter, ¼” to ½”.
What happens if my dog digs a hole in it? A.G.M. Can repair a hole dug by a dog. Please remember a pet digging a hole is not covered by the warranty. We can patch the hole so it’s extremely difficult to tell where the accident occurred.
Do I need to use infill? What is its purpose? Yes.Yes.Yes. Infill is extremely important for your artificial turf. First, it adds weight to the turf to help keep the turf compacted and not look like a “buckled carpet.” It also helps the turf follow the contour of the area so it looks natural. It helps the grass to “sit” better and it also helps the blades stay erect.
How often do I need to add infill? Generally speaking about once every two years. You apply it with a seed or fertilizer spreader and yes you can use sand. Please use clean sand that may have any bugs or organisms in it.
