Barn Metal vs Standing Seam
Not all metal roofs are the same. And the difference between “barn metal” and “standing seam” is not just aesthetic.
Barn metal uses exposed fasteners. Thousands of screws with rubber washers holding the panels down. Those washers degrade in UV, crack after 5 to 7 years, and every one of them becomes a potential leak. Add thermal cycling (metal expanding and contracting through seasons) and those screws work loose over time. It works fine on a barn. On a home, it is a gamble.
Standing seam hides every fastener underneath a concealed clip. Zero exposed screws. Zero rubber washers. The metal is free to expand and contract without fighting against its own attachment points.
We custom-fabricate the panels to each house’s actual geometry. We pay attention to fractions of an inch, the precise fold of a hem, and getting the math right so the metal lays dead flat. No ripples. No shortcuts.
