One of the best parts of being involved in our community is getting the opportunity to invest in its future.

This year, Platt Hill Nursery was proud to award a $500 scholarship through the Bloomingdale Chamber Scholarship Program to Jack Grumeretz.

Jack’s dedication to academics, athletics, leadership, and his passion for agriculture made him an outstanding candidate. As he heads to the University of Tennessee to study Agricultural Engineering, we know he has a bright future ahead.

Congratulations, Jack. We’re honored to be a small part of your journey. 🌱🎓

If you’ve seen our train displays during the holiday season or have had your kids do it’s scavenger hunt… you might want to know…

The legendary Union Pacific Big Boy No. 4014 — the largest operating steam locomotive in the world — will be on public display in West Chicago tomorrow!

📍 Location: Larry S. Provo Union Pacific Center, 335 Spencer St., West Chicago
🕘 Time: 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM
🚂 What You’ll See: One of the most famous steam locomotives ever built, restored and operating as part of its 2026 coast-to-coast tour celebrating America’s 250th anniversary.

The event will also feature family activities, entertainment, games, photo opportunities, and more throughout downtown West Chicago.

We’re not hosting this event—we’re just train enthusiasts enough to know many of our Platt Hill families would love to hear about it. 😊

The beautiful Spicebush Swallowtail butterfly starts right here. 🦋🌿

Native Spicebush is one of the most important host plants for the Spicebush Swallowtail butterfly. This spicebush is a straight-species Illinois native! 🤗🥰
