Wild Things Nursery

Wild Things Nursery Where the Roots of Conservation Run Deep. Long Live Wild Things! From farm ponds on the outskirts of town to rickety ole’ deer stands in the wilds of Lee County.

At Wild Things Nursery we'll offer a healthy mix of trees, shrubs, grasses, and wildflowers along with other fruit and mast trees for wildlife. Forged somewhere under the watchful eye of feasting otters on Bear Creek and the soul stirring slap of protective Beavers on Lakewood. On chilly nights at catfish point where the mouth of the bear meets Deep River and on the edge of a tributary to Robeson

Creek, just before it spills into Jordan Lake. From the feel of the cool, muddy water under the cascades at Johnson’s Fjord to the excitement of exploration in the shadows of Reynolds Mill. From Wild Turkeys somewhere on the side of a mountain to the call of the Northern Bobwhite and stealthy whippoorwill. From the sizzle and crackle of Good Fire as it rejuvenates the land and stirs the soul to butterflies and bees dancing on the wind. From the chorus of spring peepers as darkness draws near and spirited fireflies lighting the night to a cacophony of birds as the sun rises again. From parents who always made time for fishing to mentors and teachers and family and friends, and a wife and children sent only by God, no man or entity is self-made. A product of love and friendship in the great outdoors – Wild Things Nursery – Where the Roots of Conservation Run Deep!

I downloaded a letter today that never came in the mail.

Back on August 6th, the IRS made it official: Wild Things Conservation Trust is now a recognized 501(c)(3). Federal. Permanent. Real.

Here’s what that actually means to me. Camp Bryce doesn’t have to depend on one good year, one grant, or a single person trying to keep it alive out of sheer stubbornness anymore. It can outlast me. It can outlast all of us, if we build it right.

I don’t know what Jordan would think of a camp in his memory or a conservation trust aimed at trying to further the mission and protect wild places — not just for a season, but for seasons that haven’t come yet, for kids who haven’t been born yet who might just learn to appreciate the wild things around them.

This letter is just one more piece of the puzzle, one more step towards something good, something lasting. While we haven’t accepted one cent since formation, we can now. Just so happens that today was the last day of Camp Bryce summer camps for 2026. But, we’re already brainstorming on ways to improve, grow, and further the heart-print in our community and beyond. After all, when you leave an impression that makes a heart smile or a soul sing, you’ve done something worth doing. We believe in what we’re doing. Thank you for any and all consideration you might afford Wild Things Conservation Trust when it comes to giving. Stay tuned for Fall Camp opportunities, levels of giving, and more. In the meantime,

Save. Steward. Share. Now and forever.

Like Elsa said, “the cold never bothered me anyway”. Neither will rain. In fact, the only thing bothering us is the lack thereof along with incessant heat. See y’all Saturday! !
