🌸 Continuing our month-long celebration of perennials, today we spotlight Dianthus 🌸

Few plants deliver more color for the effort. Dianthus thrives in Wyoming’s sun, laughs at wind, tolerates dry conditions once established, and rewards gardeners with weeks of cheerful blooms. From bright pinks and reds to soft whites and bi-colors, there’s a dianthus for nearly every garden style.

Whether tucked into a rock garden, lining a walkway, or brightening a perennial bed, dianthus proves year after year that great things really do come in small packages.

🌼 Wyoming tough.
🌼 Easy to grow.
🌼 Loaded with color.

What’s not to love?

☀️ Loves full sun
💧 Drought tolerant
🦋 Attracts butterflies and pollinators

❄️ Hardy and dependable year after year

And while some gardeners worry that yarrow will spread aggressively, many of today’s improved varieties stay well-behaved in the garden while still providing all the toughness and beauty yarrow is known for.

From golden yellow to vibrant reds and oranges, yarrow adds long-lasting color to garden beds, borders, and pollinator plantings.

Stop by Wyoming Plant Company and discover why yarrow remains one of the toughest—and most rewarding—perennials you can grow.

Next up in our celebration of perennial flowers is Penstemon. If there were a "Wyoming Perennial Hall of Fame," penstemon would be one of the first plants inducted.

Here's why:

🌵 Tough as Wyoming itself – Once established, penstemons thrive with very little water.

🌼 Months of color – Depending on the variety, blooms can appear from late spring into mid-summer, filling the garden with vibrant reds, pinks, purples, blues, and whites.

🐝 Pollinator magnet – Bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds can't resist the nectar-rich flowers.

🏔 Native beauty – Many penstemons are native to Wyoming and the Rocky Mountain West, making them perfectly adapted to our climate.

❄ Winter hardy – They handle our cold winters and challenging growing conditions remarkably well.

🌿 Low maintenance – No constant watering, fertilizing, or fussing required.

✨ Incredible variety – From the fiery red flowers of Pineleaf Penstemon to the brilliant blues and purples of Rocky Mountain species, there's a penstemon for nearly every garden.

At Wyoming Plant Company, we believe every Wyoming landscape should have at least one penstemon. They're beautiful, resilient, and a reminder that some of the best garden plants are those that call the West home.
