It’s been a great spring and the garden is looking good. Have planted out all the veg beds and the snow peas, shelling peas, and fava beans are starting to bloom. Tomatoes plants looking good as well as the squashes and cucumbers. Looking forward to a great garden yield.

Had a great Seed Start Starting class today. Doing another one tomorrow at 10am. Had a few people that had to cancel tomorrow so have a few open spots if you’re interested. Check out some of our harvest! It’s been a good year because all of the rain, despite the 10+ hail storms! If you’re interested in growing your own food, today is always a great time to get started! Setting up new beds or prepping old unused beds in the next few months will set you up for great success next year. So proud of these two! Dan and Kollette are in their 2nd year of gardening and they are rocking it! I have been coaching them for a few years and they are definitely getting it figured out! Their garden looks awesome. They have been bitten by the gardening bug as Dan said they'll be adding another bed next year!

Just harvested some lettuce from the garden! Started from seeds purchased at Johnny's. Green and Red Butter Salanova and Green and Red Sweet Crisp Salanova.

Hi! I’m Rick! I love gardening. And I love gardening in Colorado. I have lived in the Castle Rock area for almost 30 years and have mastered the art of growing a beautiful and fruitful garden in Colorado. Year after year, we live off our garden from Spring through the fall. We even are still eating some of the produce through December. Growing a garden in Colorado was, at times, challenging and sometimes frustrating, but now every year I grow with great success. And yes, YOU can too!

My passion for gardening started when I would visit my grandparents in Kentucky. They had an amazing 1/2 acre garden. You could say that’s probably when I got bit by the “garden bug.” Now, years later, I would call myself a garden addict and my family and friends all agree! I can’t get enough of growing our own delicious and healthy food in our backyard kitchen garden. Of course, I can’t resist beautiful flowers either—flowers that attract pollinators and also beneficial insects that take care of those nasty bugs we don’t want in our garden. It’s a win-win!

So, now after living in Castle Rock for almost 30 years I want to help others become successful with growing their own food just like I have. You can do it and it’s NOT HARD!
