Many homeowners will experience the storm chasing door knockers. They will likely tell you that you have damage whether you do or not. Their goal is to get you to file a claim. They're basically counting on a portion of claims being paid and the more people they convince to file a claim, the more chances they have to get some approved. The thing is, they care about your claim history and if you don't get paid, you will still have that claim in your claim history. This doesn't hurt them at all, but could cause your rates to increase. They always have a gimmick for you also, offering to pay your deductible and take care of everything. Don't fall for it, I call the storm chasers trap. They want you to sign a contract right away. Call a local professional instead and don't file a claim until you have a local professional look at it first and make sure the damage is claim worthy and will exceed your deductible. If the person you're trusting doesn't get on the roof to verify damage, you're not actually dealing with a professional. Be smarter than person knocking on your door. Good luck, and support your local professionals. Nichtech Roofing & General Contracting can help.
