DISASTER DECLARATION & BURN BAN ORDER

Bastrop County Judge Gregory Klaus has issued a Disaster Declaration based upon the Threat of Wildfire. Accompanying the Disaster Declaration is a BURN BAN ORDER which will go into effect at 3:00 PM today (Friday – January 16th) and remain in effect until midnight Friday (January 23rd). A Special Session of the Commissioners Court will be scheduled sometime early next week in order to extend the BURN BAN ORDER.

This BURN BAN ORDER will remain in effect even if you experience rain.

While you're getting ready for the upcoming freeze, you will need to protect certain elements of your irrigation system.
- if you have the above ground bacflow preventor, if properly installed, it should have a shut off valve before the preventer. Close that valve (but if you don't, close the first shutoff valve on the device closest to the meter).
-Then run the sprinkler zone with the lowest elevation and open all four test c***s on the device to drain the backflow device.
- Then turn the controller to the system Off.
- Reinstall your insulated cover, making sure it's tight against the ground.
(Folks with the in grown devices don't need to do this as the box in the ground protects it.)
- Any zones with those Grey shrub risers should be run with the water supply shut off so they won't burst.
- Prepare to avoid troubles.
