Going on vacation, traveling or lost your remote control? If so, here are some safety tips you should consider:

1. Remove the cord, which is attached to the garage door motor mounted in the ceiling, from the outlet. Once this is done the door can only be opened from inside the garage when the power cord it plugged back in.

2. Make sure you set a timer for your outside lights.

3. If you remote is lost or stolen call a garage door service company and
purchase a remote and have them set a new code.

4. Stop mail delivery or have it forwarded to you.

5. Stop newspaper delivery.

6. Ask a neighbor to keep an eye on your house and call you if the see something suspicious.
