One of my favorite Instagram pages started a great discussion yesterday about fears and concerns people have when buying their first home. Some of the common objections raised included:
-Student loans
-Working freelance/fluctuating income and not qualifying for a mortgage loan
-No money for down payment
-Too expensive in desired area
-Fear of feeling dumb/having no clue about the process
-Competitiveness in the market (including competing with developers making cash offers/getting out-bid on your dream home and feeling disappointed)
-Lack of financial education
-Fear of unexpected costs, maintenance, etc. and having no idea how to take care of a house (especially an old house)
I had MANY of these concerns when buying my house, especially as a single, millennial female with no clue where to begin! I eventually overcame those concerns, but many out there are still struggling to take next steps. Did/do you have any of these fears? What are your thoughts?
P.S. As I sit here typing this post, I can definitely hear a bat or some type of small bird flying around in my ceiling. 🦇 Talk about unexpected expenses. . .

Good morning! I am SO curious about this place. A little restaurant tucked right in on the corner of a classic Spruce Hill residential street. I’m sitting here at the crack of dawn on a Saturday morning, with my coffee and oatmeal 😋, researching about this adorable 45th and Larchwood beauty, which I pass by often. Formerly Marigold Kitchen, it closed earlier this year. It has a for sale sign (PRE), but I can’t find the listing on their website or any other public sites. Last listed for $699k. Maybe it sold and just hasn’t been updated yet. Built in 1930. At one point used by the current Zahav chefs! I have never been inside, but would love to see it! I hope to find out more soon.
