If you’ve discovered water in your basement, don’t panic- but do act fast! Here are a few important steps:
🚨1. Stay safe first. Don’t enter a flooded basement if water is near electrical outlets, panels, or appliances. When in doubt, shut off the power at the breaker.
🪣2. Remove the water quickly. Use a wet/dry vac or sump pump to get standing water out as soon as possible. The longer it sits, the more damage it causes.
☀️3. Dry it out.  run fans, a dehumidifier, or open windows (when it’s not raining)! To dry the space thoroughly. Mold can begin growing in as little as 24-48 hours. 
📸4. Document the damage. Take photos and video before cleaning up— you’ll want this for insurance purposes.
🔧5. Find the source. Water in your basement is a symptom, not the problem. Cracks in your foundation, failing waterproofing, or poor drainage could be to blame.
