The sourdough recipe was passed down from my grandma who learned from an old German neighbor - by the last name of Stegemoller - in Central Texas in the 1930s. My grandma made this bread for roughly 70 years before she died in 2002. It was always a treasured staple at her dining table, and of course she'd send us and other friends and family members home with many loaves and sweet rolls of her sou
rdough bread over the years. She and her identical twin sister both baked this bread recipe for many decades. When they had a falling out, my grandma had to go grovel to her sister to get some starter from her since she had killed her starter. Fortunately they were able to patch things up before my grandma passed away in 2002. I was fortunate enough to have taken the last picture of them together a few days before my grandma passed away. Why the name "Your Bread Dealer"? Because you will become addicted to this bread, but at least it's a healthy addiction! The health benefits of sourdough are marvelous! Grandma had a unique old school recipe that everyone cherished, and as her youngest grandchild, I am honored to bring her amazing recipe into your home.
