In honor of National Pollinator Month, we’re showing you some of Susan’s favorite pollinator plants—starting with lantana. These heat-loving flowering shrubs are part of the verbena family and native to tropical regions of the Americas. You’ll find them in a lot of Florida yards, but they’re also a great choice for Colorado gardens because they can handle our intense sun. Help us celebrate this special month by commenting your favorite pollinator plant. 🐝🌻💛

🌊 Rooted in Water: Aquatic Adventures & Hydroponic Heroes 🌱

Dive into the fascinating world of water-loving plants in our next Homeschool Botany class! Students will explore aquatic plants and discover how plants can grow without soil using hydroponics.

We’ll investigate our on-site pond by testing pH, temperature, and oxygen levels, then apply what we learn by building a simple hydroponic growing station and planting basil seeds to take home.

Each class includes fun, hands-on learning plus multidisciplinary extension activities to continue the experience at home.

Cacti and succulents are some of the most popular items in the house plant department. 🌵 Now, most of the cacti and succulents you’ll find *inside* the garden center are heat lovers. You can put them out during the warm seasons, but you’ll want to bring them in when the weather starts to cool. If you’re looking for a cacti or succulents to leave in the ground, we’ve got plenty of cold-hardy options as well!
