The Leon County Master Gardeners and Texas A&M AgriLife Extension held their annual Garden Day Camp on June 10th and 11th at Centerville First Baptist Church. We had 24 children participating, which were divided into three age groups.
On the first day all the children were visited by Wildlife Biologist Keagan Hathorn with his reptiles and amphibians which consisted of a baby alligator, snake and turtles. On the second day all of the children were visited by Park Ranger Alyssa Hathorn who spoke about mason bees, and brought them their own bee hotels. We thank Keagan and Alyssa for spending time and talking with these young day campers.
During these two days each group of children had plenty of projects to work on such as bee watering stations, toad houses, fairy gardens, picture frames, scavenger hunts, worm composting and plenty of garden projects. Fun was had by all, and we hope to see you next year.
