With profound sadness, we announce the unexpected passing of Richard Currie, owner of Styers Peonies, on December 22nd, 2025. As we navigate this transition, we see an opportunity for growth and renewal. In respect for Richard’s legacy, we’ve made the difficult decision to postpone the ‘Festival of the Peony’ in Chadds Ford, PA, and Geneva, NY, including harvesting for retail partners and direct-to-consumer sales. We’ll keep everyone updated on our future plans. We’re grateful for the support of our customers, festival attendees, crew, and their families, as well as Richard’s loved ones, during this challenging time.

We offer some of the most exquisite intersectional peonies (also known as ITOHs) in the market. If you are new to planting this variety, it is a must-add to your peony garden. Itoh peonies, also known as intersectional peonies, are hybrid plants created by crossing herbaceous peonies with tree peonies, combining the best traits of both. They offer large, long-lasting blooms similar to tree peonies and a lush, bushy form with die-back in winter like herbaceous varieties. Itoh peonies are highly prized for their vibrant colors, ranging from soft pastels to deep corals and yellows, and their strong, upright stems.
