Indoors, the environment you provide for your plants, depending on the stage of growth they’re in, is extremely important for growing healthy, and productive plants.

You’d think after 25+ years of indoor gardening, everything in our gardens would be perfect, all the time, but we’re not perfect!

Like a lot of you, and definitely those in NE Ohio right now, we’ve been struggling to maintain “optimal” temperature, relative humidity, and VPD in our 4’x4’ tent. Winter in Cleveland can be confusing, and hard on HVAC equipment.

But based on what we’re observing in the plants themselves, you’d think we’re +/- 1deg and 1% RH. Check out the data from our UIS Controller 69 PRO and mobile app, for what’s really going on.

Have we slowed vegetative growth? MAYBE. Will that affect yield? MAYBE. Should most growers focus on ranges vs. set points? YES (feel free to make a counter argument in the comments). Everything ebbs and flows, just ensure you avoid the extremes.

We’ve got loads of equipment, supplies, controllers, and experience that can help you achieve the best ranges (and set points) for temperature, relative humidity, and VPD-and avoid those extremes.

The best plant attribute to observe, when determining how your plants are maturing and when they’re ready for harvest, is without a doubt trichome head shape/swell and color.

I’ve seen this happen before, and if it’s all you’ve got maybe cutting it out is ok (ask me how I know)?

But like the old saying goes, an ounce of prevention…” is definitely the best way to mitigate the risk of contamination in your garden 🚫

All of our trays were like the ones shown, so they’ve be pitched. Costly and wasteful, but far less so than it being the reason you chop week 5 of flower 😭

We’ve just ordered a TON more tray, insert, and dome options because of this.

Elevate your grow game with either the Pro or Blended lines.

We have HIGH expectations for the coolest nutrients in the game, so we’ll be using the Blended line in our research trials to see if the hype is real 🤓

The pursuit of should be the objective for every beginner, intermediate, or advanced grower. So, their slogan hits HARD 💥

Only time will tell if quality, yield, and the ease of use do the same ⏰

How do you germinate your seeds?

Do you change your method depending on how old the seeds are, how many you have, or how special they are to you?

The paper towel method works best for me, when you don’t have hundreds of seeds to start. Most importantly, you can achieve good results with minimal supplies and attention 🫡

The germination rate on this batch is 100%…in less than 36hrs from when they hit the towel.

Knowledge is probably the most important thing we possess as a species.

It doesn’t care what color you are, or how much money you have in your Roth IRA.

We can really only create it by testing, failing, refining, and ultimately distributing it to others. An iterative, but effective way to progress…

This was supposed to be a post about how bitchin Rev’s TLO book is, and how I remember the day it came out! I thought for sure I was gonna be a “disciple of the dirt.”

Those memories, and some smoke, obviously have me thinking a bit deeper right now.

To be honest, I’ll probably keep pushing salt-based nutrients indoors, but as I get older I crave the scarier things-unknowns and discomfort. So maybe there is a TLO run in my not so distant, reread future.

It’s never too late to learn, apply, refine, and redistribute the knowledge gained from others and yourself. Or maybe just become the “disciple of dirt” I once hoped to be.

So with that, I’m putting together a community library of my own books, for customers to “check out”, and trying to bring some classics into the shop for you to start your own libraries with too!
