​Most roofers are happy to do a "roof-over" because it’s fast, but they have no idea what lies underneath. This job was a perfect example of why we always strip to the deck:
​1️⃣ The "Chopstick" Rafter: We found a structural rafter that was dangerously thin. Adding the massive weight of a second roof would have been a disaster.
2️⃣ The Pipe Boot Leak: Rot was already eating away at the wood around this pipe. A roof-over would have just buried the problem, letting it fester.
3️⃣ Warped Decking: When a roof can't "breathe," the decking warps and fails early.
