Sharing all the little details that made this patio design come to life. Evergreen plants in containers will look great year round and pops of red in the flowers carry the color scheme from fire pit to seating area. I repeated sphere shapes throughout to accent specific areas as well as the curve of the main path. Garden art was selected to make the area feel warm and inviting. This outdoor area is now a favorite spot of my clients to usher in the cool fall temps.

All. This. Gorgeousness. In my own garden, everything is blooming and becoming lush and full. And yet somebody keeps buying new flowers…
It’s me.
Hi.
I’m the problem. It’s me. 🤣.
How is your garden growing?!

Happy first day of Spring! AND... 2nd BIRTHDAY to The Garden Mum! Some inspiration for you: what's the view like from your front windows? This sunny refresh gave the owner a clear view outside to all new plantings. Before (see last pic) the Japanese Maple was WAY too big for the spot, and blocked the lovely picture window. We planted a new one farther out, along with lush new shrubs and perennials. Now the view is grand from inside and out!

Sometimes it takes a while for a newly landscaped project to reach the lushness that is desired... and sometimes, it happens in one season. This terraced front yard got a makeover with the addition of a low stone wall for soil retention and lots of Mediterranean plantings that filled the area within months for *almost* immediate gratification! I planted soft green Artemisia, Santolina, purple salvias, ornamental grasses, Lamb's Ear, Rosemary and more which blanket the area quite nicely.

Another BEFORE and AFTER for you... So many problems plagued this front yard. Rain was guttering out the side and causing erosion, a rock outcropping was crumbling away and newly removed trees had decreased the sense of privacy the home once had. Penn Landscape Contracting created a dry creek bed and plants were added all around - the area is shady so I chose ferns, Oakleaf hydrangeas and hosta. The rock wall was restored with loads of new stone brought in to create an absolute masterpiece. I filled all the pockets between stones with plants. The upper tier was filled in with tea olives and ornamental grasses that will give them back their privacy. We moved a lot of existing plants around to create balance, and finally - gave the containers lining the sidewalk a refresh with herbs and perennials. Click through for those BEFORE shots. What an amazing transformation for my client. With no formal backyard to enjoy, they now have a peaceful sanctuary to escape to out front!

Well, in Atlanta, it's Spring! I mean, I had to turn the AC on last night 🥵. I know we'll still have a few colder days but today, it's patio weather. The one featured here is my absolute favorite project from last year. My clients gave me a budget and a blank slate - so much potential. I purchased all the furniture and decor, such as a mirror, fountain and other special items, to create cozy, outdoor ROOMS. A bench and coffee table add to make a relaxing nook, a new table works great with the existing chairs and gives the owners more room to entertain. We hid the AC units behind a fence panel and added plants in front. There is bar table to hold cocktails and snacks while the owners grill as well. And finally - all the containers and pottery came in and were planted with lots of lush perennials for year round color, scent, texture and lushness. Annuals were tucked in certain pots and can be easily swapped out with the seasons. Make sure to click to the end to see the BEFORE shot. Thanks to Danielle Garrett McHan for taking these great pics, and to Watson, that big old sweet dog, for making us laugh during the shoot!
