Reifsteck Wakefield Fanning & Company (RWF) is looking for a creative and motivated Team Leader. This is a full-time on-site role located in Urbana-Champaign Area. Team Leaders are responsible for leading the team creating detailed construction drawings and developing innovative architectural designs as well as creating specifications. Day-to-day tasks include collaborating with team members, managing project phases, and ensuring designs meet client expectations and regulatory standards.

🚨 WE'RE HIRING: PROJECT MANAGER 🚨

Reifsteck Wakefield Fanning & Company (RWF) is seeking an experienced and motivated Project Manager to join our team in the Urbana-Champaign area. This is a full-time, on-site position responsible for leading architectural projects from initial planning and design through construction completion.

Project Managers serve as the primary point of contact for clients, consultants, contractors, and project teams. This role requires strong leadership, communication, technical knowledge, and organizational skills to ensure projects are delivered on schedule, within budget, and in alignment with client goals and design intent.

The ideal candidate is proactive, collaborative, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple projects while maintaining a high level of professionalism and accountability.

Responsibilities
🔹 Lead projects through all phases of design and construction
🔹 Serve as the primary client contact and maintain strong client relationships
🔹 Develop and manage project schedules, budgets, staffing plans, and work plans
🔹 Coordinate architects, consultants, and project team members throughout project delivery
🔹 Monitor project progress, profitability, scope, and risk
🔹 Review drawings and specifications for quality, accuracy, and completeness
🔹 Coordinate structural, civil, and MEP disciplines
🔹 Conduct project meetings, presentations, and team coordination efforts
🔹 Support construction administration including submittal review, contractor communication, and site observations
🔹 Maintain organized project documentation and project records
🔹 Mentor team members and foster a collaborative, positive work environment

🔹 Professional degree in Architecture
🔹 8+ years of architectural experience with demonstrated project management responsibilities
🔹 Licensed Architect preferred, but not required
🔹 Strong understanding of project delivery methods and construction processes
🔹 Experience coordinating structural, civil, and MEP consultants
🔹 Knowledge of building codes, accessibility requirements, and construction documentation
🔹 Strong budgeting, scheduling, contract administration, and risk management skills
🔹 Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
🔹 Proficiency in Revit required
🔹 Experience with project management and financial software preferred
🔹 Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously

We had the honor of attending the open house and grand re-opening ceremony at FarmHouse Fraternity on Saturday!

Our team has partnered with FarmHouse for nearly 20 years on various planning efforts, and it’s been so rewarding to see this major renovation come to life. The project included an enclosed stairwell addition, new and improved restrooms, accessible first-floor bedrooms, enclosed bedrooms on the third floor, and new study spaces throughout.

At the ceremony, FarmHouse announced that their newest recruitment class is the largest they’ve had in years — a great sign of the chapter’s continued growth and success.

What a great event! We had a lot of fun designing and building this year’s Habitat for Humanity’s Raise the Woof cat tree! RWF’s build came in 2nd place! We called this design, “Tensegri-kitty,” a play on the word tensegrity. Tensegrity is a structural principle where components of the design are held in place and stabilized by a continuous net of tension.

You can bid on our build! All of this year’s builds will be up for auction soon! You can also vote for the “People’s Choice” winner. We will share those posts when they’re posted.

Happy first day of classes! Be sure to check out the glow-up in the lower level of Gregory Hall, which features a renovated main corridor with fresh paint, new flooring, modern lighting, and more. Come Spring 2026, construction will be complete in Room 1, which is combining three spaces to become a hybrid/flexible, state-of-the-art classroom, all thanks to a $2.5M gift from Richard and Leslie Frank.

New photos, who dis?

The Civil Engineering Hydrosystems Laboratory at the University of Illinois wrapped up construction a couple of years ago, but recently had some glamour shots taken. A unique feature of the building is the new suspension bridge connecting the Hydrosystems Lab and Newmark Structural Engineering Laboratory.

The building houses labs, lecture rooms, classrooms, and offices for staff and students, as well as collaborative areas throughout the renovated building, addition, and the new bridge.
