What an incredible turnout at last week’s open house at the Mattamuskeet Lodge!

Closed since 2000 due to structural deterioration, this historic landmark has patiently waited for its next chapter. Even during its years of closure, the Lodge retained its place on the National Register of Historic Places, underscoring its importance to Hyde County’s history and heritage.

Community members explored the building’s past and future through design renderings and virtual reality, getting a preview of how the Lodge will soon be restored as part of a $16.5 million revitalization. Plans include event spaces, a museum, teaching kitchen, lodging, dorms, and a public extension office—creating a new destination for learning, tourism, and gathering.

Join us in welcoming Morgan Hunt to the INTEC Group team as our new Project Designer! 🎉

Morgan’s path to design is as unique as she is—she started out studying nursing, but her creative side led her to pursue Interior Design. Since then, she’s been all in: from sketching concepts to diving into new creative hobbies like crochet, photography, and drawing. She’s also a former professional zipliner, a devoted dog mom to her pup Ella, and a big fan of national parks (especially if there’s a swimming spot nearby!).

We’re so excited to have her creativity, adventurous outlook, and fresh perspective on the team. Welcome, Morgan!

We’re excited to share the transformation of Dr. Ivan Castro’s medical concierge practice in Winter Park, FL! When the upstairs tenant moved out, Dr. Castro expanded his practice into the 2nd floor—renovating the space to reflect his love of mid-century modern design with an industrial edge.

Design highlights include custom stained maple-wood slats around the central exam rooms, a hand-crafted steel reception desk, walnut stair treads, and sealed original concrete floors. Even the ceiling ductwork was left partially exposed, balanced with acoustic baffles for a polished industrial look.

The end result is a warm, calming, and modern medical office, enhanced by natural light and thoughtful details that put patients at ease.

That’s a wrap! After more than 3 years in the making, this exciting renovation near Chicago’s Millennium Park is officially complete.

The project reimagines 30,000 SF of lobby and amenity space inside a 1.3 million SF office tower—including a monumental stair that replaces a 3-story escalator, connecting the East Monroe Street lobby to the Forum 55 food hall and the upper floors above.

The design was inspired by cadence—bringing together rhythm, pause, and flow through warm finishes, biophilic details, and sculptural lighting. From imported Italian stone to custom copper cladding and some of the largest fabric-wrapped light fixtures the manufacturer has ever produced, every detail adds softness and connection to the Mies-inspired building.

Today we’re celebrating National Intern Day by spotlighting Ishmehar Mohal, our amazing summer intern in the Charlotte office! Currently earning her Master of Architecture at Georgia Tech, Ishmehar hit the ground running—diving into a multifaceted project, mastering Revit through our INTEC U series, and even learning to make the perfect espresso. She shared how much she’s appreciated INTEC’s tight-knit culture and the chance to be part of a team that supports and values one another. We’re so lucky to have her on board!
