After a few false starts, Spring seems to have finally sprung. Have a look around the yard, up into the trees. Dead limbs, heaving of soil or cavities in the trunk or branches can mean root and/or limb rot, infestation or infection. If you see symptoms call us and schedule a free walk-thru/consultation. After your walk-thru, tell your estimator (if work is indicated) if you are a teacher, veteran or military family or first responder, *after you get your bid and subtract 10%. I do pet and animal rescue too, mostly getting cats out of trees. *Our discounts are not baked in. Just appreciative. perrytreeservice.com

Well, it's been raining for two days and it's supposed to keep raining for two more. We need the rain but I'd like to be working! Guess I'll clean out the shop (it needs a new roof--I guess I'll do that next weekend). Give us a call if you sustain any storm damage--for that, we will work in the rain, snow, ice...whatever. AND thank you for your continued support!

"The new phone books are here!--the new phone books are here!!" Yp's 2015-2016 book is out for Orange and Durham counties and although my Perry Tree Service ad was supposed to be full color (and is not), I do like the placement. The full color ads my competitors are running are too busy, so maybe their mistake is a blessing in disguise. I did get a proof and I sat down with their sales rep. and made corrections which were not reflected in the ad. We'll see. Over the last 22 years YP has done a good job. A little disappointed this year--we'll see if it generates any new biz.

I've been watching coverage of the tree that fell on those children at a summer camp in California. It looks to me like the tree's root system had dry - rotted away--probably from the drought. If you look closely at the images, it didn't so much "uproot'" as it did "break off," at ground level. There is no root-ball attached to the failed tree.

Thoughts and prayers out to the family of tree-climber Anthony Wright, killed today in Raleigh, NC while climbing for Davey. They're one of the largest tree services in the world and a good company. Regards from all of us at Perry Tree Service.
