Hostess Tip šŸŒø Nothing kills the dinner party vibe faster than the conversation at the table starting to lag.

My foolproof fix? Ask everyone: ā€œIf you could only have 3 cheeses for the rest of your life, what would you pick?ā€

A little oddball? Sure. The best questions usually are. Never underestimate peopleā€™s love of cheeseā€¦ or their desire to prove theyā€™re right. Somehow this one gets even the shyest strangers chatting.

Thereā€™s nothing quite like reveal day through the eyes of a child. āœØ

The fabrics feel softer, the bunks look taller, the reading nooks feel more magicalā€¦ every detail becomes part of their little world. Our favorite part of the process will always be watching a house become home for the people living inā€¦. especially the littlest ones, who somehow notice every thoughtful touch first. šŸ¤

Weā€™ve been lucky to have some fabulous interns over the years, and some that were a bit of a drag. šŸ˜„ This summer we are so excited to welcome back a wonderful design student who helped us over the holiday break.

In her honor, tips for being the most fabulous intern ever!

ā­ļø Be excited to just be there. Sit, listen, observe. You can learn more from listening in on a phone call that has nothing to do with you than from any textbook.

ā­ļø Be a doer. The trash always needs to be taken out. Donā€™t wait for a list, look around and find the problem to solve.

ā­ļø Know how to pronounce the business name, spell your bossā€™s name, and know the address. It sounds obvious but unfortunately it isnā€™t.

ā­ļø Pick up the phone. Waiting all day for an email answer vs. a two minute call, the call wins every time. Being able to handle direct human contact will impress people more than you know.

Proof that dining rooms can be just as dressed up as the guests. This lampshade is pulling out all the stops- smocked pleats, perfect silk, a pop of micro cord, a fabulous finial, and tassels to tie it all together. Itā€™s the little details that are the icing on the cake (and our favorite part of the design process). šŸ°
