After 4 years and with a heavy heart, I have decided to permanently close the doors to plant babe(brick and mortar shop).

The people who have come into my life and opened theirs up to me over the past 4 years because of plant babe will be one of the greatest chapters in my entire life story. What an incredible, incredible gift. The love and support I have received from so many of you, I will carry with me for the rest of my days. Thank you to everyone for shopping in our small business, supporting us from recommendations to social media likes to shoutouts and beyond. Thank you for believing in us.

I will be posting more throughout January in terms of the next steps of plant babe as the business will continue, but in a modified way…in home plant consultations, online shop, pop-ups, etc.

The entire shop will be 50% off from January 2nd through January 15th. We are absolutely stocked to the gills too— there is A LOT of inventory for everyone in all categories.

The website will be temporarily closed until the 15th for inventory purposes and will reopen on the 16th. Gift cards can still be used in shop and online. Physical shop gift cards may also be converted to online gift cards, just email [email protected] and we will make it happen.

Plants tell stories. Talk to any plant person and you’re bound to hear one. “I have a Christmas cactus that was propagated from my Grandmother’s 60 years ago”, “My old neighbor was getting rid of this ficus when he moved” etc. etc.

All of the poinsettias we have the in shop this year— they all tell a story for me.

It has taken 4 years but I have finally gotten the rarer poinsettias I’ve always wanted to stock in the shop. Oddly enough despite my searches both high and low, the grower I finally found them from is only a couple hours away from us in Charleston.

I became friends with that grower on FB. Shortly thereafter, he posted a photo that stopped my mindless scrolling. It mentioned a memory of a bay and something on Greeley Avenue— details that only those who are familiar with the south shore of Long Island would know. I went to his profile and realized that he was from the same town my Mother grew up in and went to the same high school as my parents and 15 other relatives. Granted, there are plenty of stories like this except I now live about 815 miles from home.
