Pool’s great. But we might be spending most of our time right here.
This cabana was built to give this backyard a place to actually slow down — shade when you want it, a spot to watch the game, grill nearby and the pool only a few steps away.
We handled the cabana, wood ceiling and custom shutters, with a lot of the details being built right in our R3 shop.
Pretty hard to beat this setup on a Charleston afternoon.
These might be our favorite detail on the whole cabana.
Instead of closing this space off with permanent walls, we built custom operable shutters that let the homeowners change the space depending on the day.
Open them up when you want the breeze and view. Close them down when you want a little more shade and privacy.
Functional, good looking, and built specifically for this cabana.
That’s exactly the kind of project we like getting into.
This is where having our own shop gets fun.
A cabana like this is more than four posts and a roof. It’s figuring out the little details that make the finished space feel like it belongs in the backyard.
The ceiling. The trim work. The proportions. And those custom operable shutters.
Being able to build pieces specifically for a project instead of trying to make something off the shelf fit is a big part of what we do at R3.
Built in the shop. Made for the space.
Sometimes you need a little wood to break up all that white.
The ceiling ended up being one of the details that really brought this cabana together.
That warm wood overhead against the white structure gives the entire space a different feel without trying too hard — especially when you start seeing it alongside the custom shutters.
A relatively simple detail that makes a pretty big difference.
