It is with a bit of sadness that we have to announce that Buzy has officially closed its doors.
The Good- It sorta worked :) We successfully completed over 500 work orders for "buzy" homeowners. We injected over $250k into small & micro sized businesses around the Charlotte area. Many of those business have been changed forever, grew to a 3rd crew, added another van, a few more employees, etc. We remain very proud of that impact!
The Bad- It's always sad to see one of your "babies" not flourish into the grown-up you so tirelessly tried to create. 1,000's of hours worked, and 100's of thousands of dollars lost. 3 years of trying to create & scale a better way to care for your home without dealing with dozens of vendors just hasn't panned out the way we expected. The competitive landscape, the cost of customer acquisition, Covid keeping people home, and our own ex*****on mistakes were too much to overcome. Maybe had we gotten into YC, or won the NC Idea grant, things would have been different, we were so close on both, but it didn't. And I never felt 100% comfortable with raising outside funds knowing that a good part of me was still more into residential real estate than into Buzy, but I'm glad now that I'm the only ugly mug I have to face ;)
The Reality- You gatta try things, you gatta give things 100% effort and even then see that everything doesn't work. Business is hard, developing beloved apps is hard & less than 1% of them succeeded. But ya gatta try! I'm proud I took the risk, proud I gave it one hell of a try, and proud of myself to admit failure. I've learned a lot from Buzy and I'm deeply grateful for all the customers who gave it a try, all the friends & family who encouraged me, the awesome people I had a chance to work with- Brandy and Tiami, Ben & his team at Social Design House for all their amazing creative work, Will & Robbie for their coding and UI/UX development savviness, and the dozens of awesome vendor partners. THANK YOU ALL
Fail forward they say............
